Staff Firmware Engineer

TCP is partnered with a well-funded defense tech company here in Austin that’s building intelligent systems operating at the intersection of hardware and software.

This team is looking for highly skilled firmware/embedded engineers with strong expertise in microcontroller firmware development in C++, schematic design, and electrical simulation.

Role: Embedded/Firmware Software Engineer (Senior - Staff)

Comp: Competitive base salary + equity + benefits + unlimited PTO

Location: Austin, TX (full relocation support provided)

What they care about:

• Build real-time embedded C++ systems for autonomous defense platforms where latency and reliability are mission-critical.
• Design and architect embedded electrical systems (MCUs, digital/analog ICs, power circuits) for autonomous turret hardware.
• Own end-to-end testing & optimization — lab + field debugging, performance tuning, and power efficiency on constrained hardware.
• Produce rigorous engineering documentation (schematics, block diagrams, simulations, test protocols) to production-grade standards.
• Experience w/ Nvidia Jetson
