TBG | The Bachrach Group is partnered with one of the leading national oilfield services companies on their search for a STAFF ACCOUNTANT. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of general ledger / full cycle accounting and financial reporting experience within energy, oil and gas, chemical manufacturing or public accounting. A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or any related field is required. CPA or parts passed is highly preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and related disclosures in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Lead key aspects of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and review complex journal entries related to accruals, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, revenue, operating expenses, and other accounting activities.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items to maintain the integrity of financial records.
- Analyze financial results and provide clear explanations for significant fluctuations, trends, and variances compared to budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Maintain the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Account for energy-related transactions, including production revenues, operating expenses, capital projects, joint interest billings, royalties, and other industry-specific activities, as applicable.
- Partner with operations, commercial, treasury, and other business functions to ensure financial data accurately reflects underlying business activities.
- Evaluate and enhance accounting processes, procedures, and internal controls to improve efficiency, strengthen compliance, and reduce operational risk.
- Research technical accounting matters and assist with the implementation of new accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and reporting guidance.
- Coordinate audit requests, prepare schedules and workpapers, and serve as a primary contact for external and internal auditors.
- to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities through financial analysis and accounting expertise.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and system enhancements that increase accuracy and streamline workflows.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on accounting policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in special projects, system implementations, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic initiatives as assigned.
- Serve as a trusted member of the Corporate Accounting team, driving financial accuracy, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the organization.
- At least 3 years of GL accounting experience and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or any related field are required.
