Staff Accountant

This position is primarily responsible for a variety of daily and monthly financial accounting duties for the Life Extension Foundation Buyers Club, Inc. and its subsidiaries. These core tasks consist of account reconciliations and analysis, preparation of journal entries and related monthly close documents.


Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Daily processing of inventory adjustments and work orders closures
  • Assist in the daily morning financial reports & banking requirements
  • Prepare month-end journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation as needed to support the reconciliation of the investment & balance sheet accounts
  • Process monthly and/or quarterly sales and use tax
  • Support Controller in preparing deliverables, reports & presentations to senior management
  • Acts as back up for daily sales counts and weekly NJ Productivity reports
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to provide for a collaborative team environment
  • Provide support with departmental budget preparation, review, distribution and adjustments (Budget/ Variance Reports)
  • Update offline bank account activities using QuickBooks
  • Provide data analysis and recommendations for process improvement opportunities
  • Continuously review, test, and update accounting procedures and instructionals (AP, AR, Payroll, General Ledger) to ensure they are accurate and efficient.
  • JDE maintenance (create and deactivate GL accounts, open and close accounting periods etc.)
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis and support management with special projects as needed
  • Regular onsite attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Additional duties as assigned


Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 5+ years of experience as a junior accountant or bookkeeper or similar role
  • Uses discretion and judgment in dealing with confidential matters; ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Outlook and Word; experience with JDEdwards, QuickBooks preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy, excellent time management skills to meet deadlines
