Pay: $65.00 per hour

Job Summary

The Senior Structural / Civil Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and execution of facility-related engineering projects supporting capital improvements and operations & maintenance initiatives. This role focuses on structural systems within service centers, commercial buildings, and yard facilities, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and delivering efficient, cost-effective design solutions.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and engineer structural and civil projects supporting capital and maintenance budgets
• Prepare and/or oversee the development of design packages, including specifications and drawings
• Review contractor shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with project requirements
• Perform cost-benefit analyses and conceptual studies to determine optimal design solutions
• Develop project budgets and prepare appropriation requests
• Provide engineering support for facility operations and maintenance activities
• Conduct system inspections and root cause investigations for structural or facility-related incidents
• Collaborate with internal design teams and external consulting engineers to ensure project success
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards

Job Requirements

• Proven experience in civil/structural engineering with demonstrated project accomplishments
• Strong technical expertise in the design of steel, concrete, and masonry structures
• In-depth knowledge of applicable codes and standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE, NYC Building Code, etc.)
• Ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external consultants
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field required

Work Experience

• Significant experience in civil/structural engineering, preferably supporting commercial buildings, service centers, or similar infrastructure

Additional Job Details

• Schedule: 8-hour workday (e.g., 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM or 7:00 AM – 3:45 PM)
• Contract: 1-year contract with potential for conversion based on performance
• Overtime: Possible based on project needs
• Travel: Local travel required (transportation provided as needed)
