Job Title: Sr. Project Accountant
Pay range: $35-$43 per hour.
Location: fully onsite, Cerritos, CA

About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-driven Senior Project Accountant to lead and support key accounting initiatives and process improvements. This role blends deep accounting expertise with project management, playing a critical part in enhancing financial operations, system efficiency, and data integrity.
As a senior individual contributor, you will take ownership of high-impact projects, collaborate cross-functionally, and drive improvements across accounting workflows—without direct people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead end-to-end accounting projects, including planning, scoping, execution, and delivery
- Develop project plans, timelines, and deliverables; track progress and ensure deadlines are met
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls
- Research, evaluate, and implement new systems, tools, vendors, and strategic partnerships
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for accounting workflows
- Accounting Operations & Financial Analysis
- Prepare journal entries and perform complex general ledger and account reconciliations
- Analyze financial data and trends to identify cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies
- Generate and customize financial reports (daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc)
- Support data cleanup and ensure integrity within accounting systems
- Conduct internal audits to strengthen controls and ensure compliance
- Systems & Implementation
- Lead and support system implementations, upgrades, and integrations impacting accounting processes
- Test system functionality and database integrity to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Participate in beta testing and rollout of financial tools, platforms, and partnerships
- Treasury & Cash Management
- Assist with cash forecasting (weekly and monthly)
- Support interbank transfers and ensure sufficient funding across accounts
- Prepare and review wire transfers and payments
- Perform daily treasury activities, including cash account reconciliations and bank reporting
- Compliance & Reporting
- Support insurance renewal processes and maintain certificates of insurance
- Manage escheatment processes and ensure timely regulatory reporting
- Prepare company census and other compliance-related reports
- Maintain accurate vendor setup and ongoing management
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead special projects, reconciliations, and financial analyses
- Maintain organized accounting documentation (filing, scanning, recordkeeping)
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to achieve departmental goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 5–8+ years of combined accounting and project management experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, Sage 100)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with system implementations and process enhancements
