Senior Product Owner – Performance Reporting & Portfolio Management
Role Summary
The Senior Product Owner is responsible for defining, delivering, and continuously optimizing product capabilities that support enterprise-wide performance reporting, metrics transparency, and portfolio governance. This role partners closely with business leaders, technology teams, finance, and analytics to ensure that product solutions drive measurable outcomes, enable data-driven decision-making, and align investments with strategic priorities across the portfolio.
The ideal candidate brings strong product leadership, deep experience in reporting platforms and portfolio management, and the ability to translate complex business needs into scalable, high-impact product solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Vision
- Define and own the product vision and roadmap for performance reporting and portfolio management solutions, aligned with enterprise and business-unit objectives.
- Establish success metrics (OKRs, KPIs) to track product value realization and adoption.
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term platform scalability, data quality, and governance.
Performance Reporting & Analytics
- Lead the development of executive, operational, and delivery-level performance dashboards (e.g., OKRs, KPIs, financials, delivery metrics).
- Partner with business, finance, and analytics teams to define standardized metrics, reporting hierarchies, and data models.
- Ensure reporting solutions provide actionable insights, trend analysis, and outcome-based measurements rather than transactional data only.
- Drive data accuracy, consistency, and transparency across reporting platforms.
Portfolio Management
- Own and evolve portfolio management capabilities, including demand intake, prioritization, funding alignment, dependency tracking, and value realization.
- Support portfolio-level trade-off decisions by providing data on capacity, cost, risk, and strategic alignment.
- Enable enterprise visibility into initiative progress, investment performance, and benefits realization.
- Collaborate with PMO, finance, and leadership teams to align roadmaps, budgets, and outcomes.
Backlog & Delivery Leadership
- Own and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, portfolio priorities, and stakeholder needs.
- Write clear epics, features, and user stories with measurable acceptance criteria.
- Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and reviews to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Partner with engineering and architecture teams to ensure technical feasibility and sustainable solutions.
Stakeholder & Change Management
- Act as the primary interface between business stakeholders, leadership, and delivery teams.
- Communicate product strategy, roadmap, and performance outcomes clearly to executive and non-technical audiences.
- Drive adoption through effective change management, training, and stakeholder engagement.
Continuous Improvement & Governance
- Continuously assess product performance and identify opportunities to improve usability, efficiency, and business impact.
- Ensure compliance with enterprise data, security, and governance standards.
- Champion agile and product management best practices across teams.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or equivalent role.
- Proven experience delivering performance reporting, dashboards, analytics platforms, or portfolio management solutions.
- Strong understanding of portfolio management concepts (prioritization, funding models, capacity planning, value tracking).
- Experience working in Agile / SAFe environments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders using data and insights.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Power BI, Tableau, ServiceNow, Planview, ADO Boards, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with financial reporting, forecasting, and benefits realization.
- Experience working in large, complex, or matrixed organizations.
- SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) or equivalent certification.
- Background in data analytics, BI, or enterprise platforms.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology
- 3+ years' of experience in project management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Scrum or Agile experience
