We're seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Commodity Leader to lead and drive hardware supply chain strategies which may include battery, optics, solar, electromechanical, or mechanical sourcing for our Hardware Supply Chain team supporting manufacturing across Amazon Leo's satellite constellation. This role will be instrumental in building and scaling our hardware manufacturing suppliers to support the production of thousands of satellites. You'll work cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering to resolve technical tradeoffs, manage vendor relationships, and ensure we deliver reliable hardware at scale. This role combines hands-on engineering problem-solving with strategic supply chain ownership in a fast-moving aerospace environment.
Key job responsibilities
1. Lead, coach, and develop a team of sourcing managers to drive accountability and high performance in the procurement of mission-critical aerospace components.
2. Translate high-level organizational strategy into sourcing strategies that balance supply chain resilience, cost efficiency, and technical requirements.
3. Partner with Engineering, Program Management, and Quality Assurance teams to align on supplier selection and resolve technical trade-offs using data-driven documentation.
4. Proactively mitigate supply chain risks for specialized materials and components.
5. Identify and resolve cross-team bottlenecks by establishing and auditing scalable operational mechanisms to maintain high-quality delivery.
6. Implement and enforce rigorous industry benchmark standards to continuously evaluate and improve supplier performance, cost, and quality against global aerospace best practices.
Report status to senior leadership in a clear and succinct manner
7. Provide clear, concise, and high-impact reports to the senior leadership team regarding sourcing status, strategic initiatives, and critical supply chain risks.
Basic Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field
- Experience in complex problem solving, and working in a tight schedule environment
- 10+ years of team management experience
- Experience with successfully deploying metrics for global, high-velocity teams at scale
- Travel up to 30% of the time
- 10+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, procurement, or operations with at least 5 years specifically in highly technical manufacturing, or a highly regulated, complex hardware environment.
- 7+ years of relevant strategic sourcing and category management in battery, optics, solar, electromechanical, or mechanical sourcing.Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. SAP, ORACLE, Coupa) in large organizations
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification, or 4+ years of managing department spend and labor budgets, performing root cause analysis (RCA), and implementing continuous improvement (CI) experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
