Position Summary:Tuuci is seeking a hands-on, technically strong Sr. Mechanical Engineer — CNC Methods, Tooling and Fixturing to lead the design and validation of tooling, fixtures, and workholding systems that support reliable CNC manufacturing. This role establishes datum and setup standards for machined parts and serves as the engineering bridge between product design intent and CNC execution. This is a CAM-adjacent role: not the primary CNC programmer, but highly fluent in CNC process requirements, fixturing strategy, and machining readiness. The ideal candidate brings strong shop-floor credibility, sound DFM judgment, and the ability to ensure parts are machined safely, accurately, and repeatably.Location & Reporting Relationships: This position is based in Miami, FL and reports to the Sr. Manufacturing Engineering Manager within the Manufacturing Engineering team. The role works closely with the Sr. DFM and GD&T Lead, CNC programmers, and the New Product Engineering team.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and validate production fixtures, workholding systems, and jigs for CNC machining across Tuuci product families
Own the full fixture lifecycle: concept, design, procurement/build, validation, documentation, and revision control
Develop standardized and modular workholding methods by part family to reduce setup time and variability
Define datum schemes and setup standards to ensure consistency across CNC programming, inspection, and assembly
Create setup documentation including datum references, torque specs, clamping requirements, and first-piece verification criteria
Review toolpaths, G-code, and CAM packages to confirm fixturing assumptions and datum references are correctly applied
Establish probing and in-process verification strategies that improve repeatability and catch issues before parts leave the machine
Create and maintain tooling libraries with standard tools, inserts, specialty tools, and application guidelines by material
Serve as the manufacturing engineering lead in DFM/DFA reviews for machined parts, advising on machinability, tolerances, setup complexity, and tooling impacts
Support NPI launches by delivering validated fixtures and setup documentation ahead of pilot builds and leading first-article prove-outs with programmers and operators
Maintain fixture design standards, setup templates, and a structured fixture library for repeatable shop-floor execution
Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for CNC quality issues related to fixturing, datum strategy, or work holding
Mentor engineers and operators through hands-on training, setup reviews, and fixture/workholding best-practice coaching
Communicate technical information clearly and professionally across engineering and production teams
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
10–15+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in CNC machining environments with significant tooling and fixture design responsibility
Strong expertise in workholding fundamentals, datum strategy, and fixture design for prismatic and cylindrical parts
Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD for tooling and fixture design
Ability to review G-code, CNC toolpaths, and CAM outputs; Emmegi and Haas experience preferred
Strong understanding of machining capability, metrology, and dimensional inspection related to fixture validation
Experience in high-mix, configurable product manufacturing environments
Ability to create clear, shop-ready documentation including setup sheets, fixture drawings, and standard work
Strong DFM judgment for CNC machining, including tool access, tolerancing, material behavior, and surface finish requirements
Hands-on credibility and comfort working directly with CNC operators and machinists to solve problems in real time
Experience with structured problem solving such as 8D, A3, fishbone, or 5-Why preferred
Familiarity with probing or in-process inspection systems and ASME Y14.5 GD&T preferred
