Role Summary
We are looking for a forward-thinking and experienced leader to oversee global product management for Hologic’s cytology and digital pathology portfolio, including Genius Digital Diagnostics System and AI algorithms, Cytology Instrumentations, and ThinPrep Consumables. In this leadership role, you will lead a team of global product managers to shape portfolio strategy and guide the long-term lifecycle plan for laboratory diagnostics, while ensuring products deliver strong market relevance and sustained commercial success. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in managing complex product portfolios in diagnostics, digital pathology, life sciences, or medical technology, and excels at translating market insights and customer needs into product solutions. Collaboration across key cross-functional teams is essential to deliver exceptional value and drive continuous business growth.
Job Expectations
Product Strategy & Lifecycle Management
- Drive the global product strategy and roadmap for cytology and digital pathology portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives and global portfolio strategy
- Define portfolio priorities and investment priorities across cytology and digital pathology systems, AI algorithms, automation, software, accessories, consumables, and workflow solutions
- Lead portfolio planning, forecasting alignment, and capital planning in partnership with finance and commercial leadership
- Oversee end-to-end product lifecycle management planning from strategic planning, regulatory submission, development, launch, sustainment, optimization, and end of life
- Champion long term sustainability of the installed base including reliability, serviceability, upgrade paths, total cost of ownership, and customer experience
- Partner with service, quality, and operations teams to monitor fleet performance trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Technology Experience:
- Lead teams in the development and scaling of digital solutions, bridging R&D and commercial teams.
- Prior experience with digital pathology platforms, medical imaging products, or image management software (IMS).
- Partner with cross functional teams to implement recurring revenue and pricing business models: (ex: SaaS, pay per use, pay per click, subscription, licensing, bundled, partnership)
- Experience with scalable AI platforms, foundation model(s) (FM), Uni- and multimodal AI agents
- A plus:
- Strong technical grasp of IT infrastructure, LIS, DICOM protocols, diagnostic-grade displays, and the storage scaling requirements necessary to support petabyte-scale image libraries
- Cybersecurity & compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA, GDPR, and SOC2 requirements for protecting Patient Health Information (PHI) within the digital environment
Market & Customer Insights
- Lead and conduct, in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, qualitative and quantitative research to deeply understand customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape in cytology and digital pathology instrumentation, AI algorithms, automation and laboratory workflow solutions
- Translate customer workflows, market trends, and competitive dynamics into portfolio level strategy and product direction
Performance Analysis & Optimization
- Define KPIs, analyze product performance for all designated portfolio products and execute plans to meet/exceed defined goals
- Monitor and communicate competitive activity, formulating strategic responses as needed
- Develop and implement strategic frameworks to monitor and optimize product adoption and customer experience across cytology and digital pathology portfolio
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
- Serve as the internal product leader and voice of the customer, inspiring and influencing cross-functional teams, globally
- Cultivate and strengthen strategic partnerships with key customers and industry stakeholders, championing customer advocacy initiatives, and informing organizational strategy with customer insights
- Engage laboratory professionals to validate product concepts and gather actionable feedback.
Sales Enablement & Field Support
- Partner and support commercial marketing, service, support and other key cross-functional teams in development of effective go to market strategies, sales tools and resources
- Support internal teams with product expertise for all cytology and digital pathology products
People Leadership and Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high performing global product management team
- Coach and mentor product managers to strengthen strategic thinking, customer centricity, and executive communication
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Key Qualifications
- Experience:
- 8 plus years of experience in product management, product marketing, or related roles within diagnostics, pathology (cytology and/or histology), life sciences, or medical technology
- 3 plus years of leadership experience, managing a team of professional level direct reports.
- Demonstrated success leading a team to deliver results
- Proven track record of effectively navigating and developing productive relationships across functions and levels of the organization, including senior leadership teams
- Demonstrated experience managing complex global portfolio and execution across hardware, software, and algorithm development teams
- In depth knowledge of cytology and/or histology diagnostic laboratory instrumentation, workflow, and customer segments preferred
- Experience leading inputs software solution development, customer release schedules and implementing pricing models.
- Strong leadership skills, business and financial acumen are required

- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Life Sciences, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, PhD) preferred.

Additional Requirements:
- Location: Marlborough, MA or San Diego, CA; hybrid in office
- Travel requirements: On average, 30% travel time. Ability to attend on-site, corporate, and field-based meetings as needed.

The total compensation range for this role is $129,600 - $216,00. This is based on a base salary and commission plan combination. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, territory/ geography, education, business needs, market demand and performance versus quota.
