Position Summary
SRH Landscapes is hiring a seasoned commercial landscape account manager to own the client relationship, the site, and the financial result of our flagship Fort Worth accounts — a $1.5M+ maintenance and enhancement book. This is not a role to grow into. We are hiring an operator who has already managed large commercial accounts, already run crews, already negotiated renewals, and already carried a number. Success is measured in retention, gross margin, enhancement sales, and quality — and all four at once.
Core Responsibilities
Client Relationship & Retention
• Primary point of contact for the client’s facilities team, property manager, and ownership group; weekly site walks, monthly reviews, quarterly business reviews with written scorecards.
• Lead the annual renewal including scope review, CPI and wage-driven pricing adjustments, and multi-year extensions; anticipate issues before the client raises them.
Site Quality & Horticultural Management
• Walk the property on a published schedule, documenting turf, ornamentals, irrigation, seasonal color, trees, and drainage with dated photographs and written notes.
• Own the annual maintenance calendar across pre-emergent, fertility, aeration, pruning, mulching, seasonal color, irrigation start-up and winterization, and tree care; enforce SRH quality standards against a consistent audit scorecard.
Team Leadership
• Direct the dedicated crew (leaders and technicians) assigned to the account; set expectations for uniforms, safety, production, and on-site conduct.
• Coach crew leaders on route efficiency, self-audit, and client interaction; partner with the Branch Manager on hiring, cross-training, and performance decisions. Functional Spanish strongly preferred.
Financial Performance (P&L Ownership)
• Own gross margin on the account. Know budgeted labor hours, material cost, subcontracted scope, and equipment allocation by line; review job costing weekly in Aspire (or equivalent) and investigate variances, not just report them.
• Approve purchases, subcontractor invoices, and crew timecards tied to the account; partner with the Financial Manager on month-end commentary, WIP, and collections.
Enhancement Sales & Business Development
• Carry an enhancement sales target for the account (year-one target: $300K+); build a rolling pipeline of seasonal color, bed renovations, turf replacement, tree work, irrigation upgrades, drainage, and holiday lighting.
• Produce clear, priced, photo-supported proposals the client can forward internally; follow up until each is won, lost, or parked with a next step. Hand qualified adjacent opportunities to the Fort Worth Business Developer.
Safety, Compliance & Administration
• Enforce daily safety briefings and PPE compliance; maintain current Texas Department of Agriculture applicator licensing and recordkeeping; meet the client’s vendor compliance portal requirements on time.
• Maintain a complete digital property file (site map, irrigation as-builts, plant inventory, contract, pricing history, enhancement log); deliver a monthly written report to the client and a monthly account review to SRH leadership.
Qualifications
• Experience. Minimum 7 years in commercial landscape management, including 3+ years managing single-client or portfolio accounts at $1M+ in annual recurring revenue.
• Scope command. Demonstrated fluency in maintenance operations, irrigation troubleshooting, turf and ornamental horticulture, and enhancement estimating and delivery.
• Commercial acumen. Track record of carrying and hitting a number — retention, gross margin, and enhancement sales.
• Platform fluency. Proficient in Aspire, strong in Excel and PDF proposal production.
• Licensing. Valid Texas driver’s license with insurable MVR; Texas Department of Agriculture Commercial or Non-Commercial applicator license (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Communication. Clear, professional written and verbal English; able to write a client-ready proposal or renewal letter without editorial rework.
• Preferred credentials. NALP Landscape Industry Certified Manager (LCM), ISA Certified Arborist, or Certified Irrigation Contractor; Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Horticulture, Turfgrass Science, Landscape Architecture, Agronomy, or Business. Functional Spanish. Existing relationships with Tarrant County property managers and facilities directors are a plus.
• Physical. Able to walk large commercial properties in Texas heat and weather, climb ladders, and perform occasional hands-on demonstration of field tasks.
Compensation, Benefits & How to Apply
• Compensation. Competitive base commensurate with experience, plus performance bonus tied to (a) account retention, (b) gross margin versus underwriting, and (c) enhancement sales booked and delivered.
• Package. Company vehicle or vehicle allowance, fuel card, laptop and phone, PTO, paid holidays, and company-paid certifications. Clear pathway to Branch Manager or Director of Operations for the account manager who delivers over a multi-year horizon.
• To apply. Submit a résumé and a brief cover note describing (1) the largest account you have personally managed — revenue, scope, tenure; (2) your best retention or turnaround story; and (3) your enhancement sales production for the last two calendar years. All inquiries confidential.
