Our challenge

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Generative AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI solutions leveraging large language models (LLMs), multimodal systems, and generative frameworks. This role requires deep expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, and applied AI engineering, with a focus on building scalable, production-ready systems.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $120k - $130k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

• Architect and implement generative AI models for text, image, audio, and multimodal applications.
• Fine-tune and optimize large language models (LLMs) for domain-specific tasks.
• Collaborate with product, research, and engineering teams to integrate AI solutions into real-world applications.
• Develop pipelines for data preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Ensure AI systems meet performance, scalability, and ethical standards.
• Stay updated on cutting-edge research in generative AI and apply relevant advancements.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within the team.

Requirements:

• Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in machine learning, with at least 2+ years focused on generative AI.
• Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs (e.g., GPT, LLaMA, Claude), diffusion models, or reinforcement learning.
• Expertise in distributed training, model optimization, and deployment at scale.
• Solid understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and MLOps practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate research into practical solutions.

Preferred, but not required:

• Experience with multimodal AI (text + vision + audio).
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Familiarity with vector databases and knowledge graphs.
• Contributions to open-source AI projects or published research.
