Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Analyst (Revenue Integrity & Technical Accounting).

In this role, the successful candidate as the Senior Financial Analyst (Analyst) is primarily responsible for patient service revenue reporting for NYU Langone Hospitals as well as having certain financial reporting and technical accounting responsibilities for NYU Langone Health requiring a specialized knowledge of US GAAP accounting. The patient service revenue reporting role includes; performing the monthly tasks required to report and record net patient service revenue in the general ledger, performing the quarterly patient accounts receivable valuation, providing revenue/collection variance and fluctuation analysis to store fronts and finance leadership, and preparing statistical reporting on inpatient and outpatient utilization to the organization. The Analyst will be responsible for day-to- day patient service revenue reporting activities such as; preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, budgeting, managing alteryx workflows, and performing ad hoc analysis. The Analyst will prepare various schedules, analyses, and reports for a variety of stakeholders in the organization such as Budget & Financial Planning, Reimbursements, Decision Support, Managed Care, and Revenue Cycle. The Analyst will assist in working with the external auditors on reporting net patient service revenue in the audited financial statements. In addition to revenue reporting, the Analyst will assist in a financial reporting capacity for various NYU Langone Health financial reporting deliverables. The Analyst will also work with the Director of Revenue Integrity and Technical Accounting on significant, complex, or unusual accounting topics by conducting technical accounting research, preparing analyses, and documenting conclusions in memorandums. The Analyst will report into the Manager of Revenue Integrity; the position resides within the NYU Langone Health Controllership.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for the day to day management of the financial processes, e.g. journal entries, account reconciliations, budget updates, etc. Manage multiple financial processes to meet necessary deadlines. Reviews explanation of variances on financial information and coordinates with other financial areas. Coordinates explanation to support major variances. Ensures that financial policies and procedures are followed. Works independently and prioritizes tasks to meet assigned deadlines. Provides feedback/input for annual review process.
  • Qualitative management of Hospital services, affiliated services/School of Medicine and fee for services. Assists in the compliance and agreement with contracts. Identification of SS issues. Reporting of issues to Manager. Incorporating resolution of issues into accounting function. Assist in developing addendums to agreements. Manage activity indicators. Review of current/future pricing methodologies. Assist in analyzing excessive services to particular hospitals. Proactive management of other non-patient service activity (ie. interns & residents, billing & collections affiliates). Coordinate with Financial Planning for management of ASA to SOM. Liaison between provider/receiver of Shared Services.Manage all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring appropriate levels of internal control, data ntegrity and transparency.
  • Accounting for Hospital, School of Medicine affiliated services and fee for services. Oversees automated transactional processing to include revenue and expense ledgers. Reviews and reconcile the budgeted allocated costs for all institutions. Reconciles of proposed and received charges. Reconciles journal entries for assigned entities HOS, SOM. Reviews and explains the variances for services provided to the department heads and other customers. Manages and coordinates transfer of funds with Treasure.
  • Prepare statistical reports for financial statements such as Inpatient & OutpatientUtilization data
  • Responsible for routine and special reports that are created out of Epic Business Objects.These reports are updated on a weekly basis and are utilized to validate Net PatientRevenue on a monthly basis. These reports are also used for preparing Fiscal YearRevenue Budgets by examining reimbursement rates by the various payers.
  • Develops a partnership between finance and the other operational departments toimprove the reporting of information and how it impacts both Finance and the respectiveareas upon which we report upon.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance and/or a masters degree in business administration or healthcare administration, or CPAand/or minimum of three to five (3-5) years of experience with an organization in a shared service environment.

Preferred Licenses: Certified Public Accountant

Preferred Qualifications:

A cost accounting background is preferred. Experience with a not-for-profit, healthcare institution and a cost or general accounting background preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $76,721.84 - $85,696.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
