The Role:Under general supervision, the primary goal of the Sr. Enterprise Network Engineer position is to ensure the smooth operation of the enterprise-wide voice and data network to provide maximum performance and availability for the system users. This position is responsible for designing, installing, maintaining and supporting LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructures at the City. Provides work leadership and guidance to Network Engineers.The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and five years of experience designing and supporting local and wide area networks.
Salary:This position is:- FLSA Exempt, and will be paid a salary regardless of hours worked per week.
- This position is a Grade 416 with an annual salary between $102,797 - $154,195.

- Works in conjunction with Information Technology Manager(s) to devise strategic and tactical solutions required to meet overall business objectives.
- Recommends technology solutions considering a number of factors including budget, business need, internal capabilities and strategic direction.
- Implements, administers, and maintains network devices including but not limited to WAPs, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, switches, and controllers.
- Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and resolves hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
- Provides technical escalation support for Network Engineers.
- Designs, documents, and deploys functional enterprise-wide LAN/WAN systems.
- Works with users, consultants, technical teams and vendors to determine the most appropriate selection of network technology and/or services for meeting business needs.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations relating to network and system security.
- Supports and assists with maintaining the technology replacement cycle.
- Assists in developing project schedules, prioritizes tasks, and meets project schedule requirements.
- Prepares and maintains documentation that is current and accurately reflects the network architecture, components, and software revision levels as appropriate.
- Develops and monitors appropriate security procedures to safeguard the City’s infrastructure from physical harm, viruses, unauthorized users and potential data loss.
- Develops, adds, removes, or changes configurations to provide appropriate authorization and connectivity through ACLs, VPN, and NATs.
- Develops and monitors appropriate performance metrics to detect and correct network performance deficiencies.
- Is responsible for configuring the City’s network protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and static routing).
- Develops and maintains documentation, checklists and processes for communicating appropriate support information to the Service Desk. Provides training as appropriate.
- Participates in change control process. Completes change requests. Coordinates work with City departments and within the Innovation & Technology department.
- Provides consulting, instruction, direction, and technical assistance to other departments as required for network, voice, data, and wireless communication initiatives.
- Identifies improvement opportunities. Examples include but not limited to tools, processes, procedures, installation, configuration and troubleshooting techniques.
- Provides on-call support during non-business hours.
- Maintains a high level of current knowledge regarding systems, technology, and communications.
- Operates city vehicles.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and five years of experience designing and supporting local and wide area networks.
One or more industry recognized networking or relevant certifications. Cisco, Palo Alto, and/or Microsoft preferred.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Knowledge of:- Personal computer hardware and software, server computer hardware and software, local area networks, wide area networks, converged voice and data networked applications, Active Directory, Ethernet, TCP/IP, Cisco LAN/WAN, and Mitel IP Phones

Ability to:- Network in a multi-Cloud environment (preferred)

Special Requirements- Valid Arizona driver's license.
- TOC 1 Certification is required within 30 days of employment.
