Senior Hardware / Electrical Engineer – High‑Speed Systems & Phased Array Antenna Design
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to help design and deliver next‑generation high‑performance hardware platforms supporting phased array antenna and customer terminal systems. In this role, you will own complex PCB assemblies from early architecture and design through bring‑up, validation, and production.
You will work on dense, high‑speed, mixed‑signal designs and collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners across systems, firmware, manufacturing, and test. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy end‑to‑end ownership, technical depth, and operating in fast‑moving, highly technical environments.
What You’ll Do
- Own board‑level hardware development from concept and architecture through production.
- Architect and design complex, multi‑board PCB systems (up to 22 layers) incorporating:
- High‑speed digital interfaces (DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, multi‑gigabit SERDES)
- RF signal interfaces and front‑end connectivity
- High‑power and complex power distribution networks
- Lead schematic capture, design reviews, and constraint definition for signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC.
- Partner with PCB layout engineers to execute constraint‑driven designs and ensure first‑pass success.
- Optimize PCB stack‑ups for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Collaborate with silicon, firmware, and systems teams to integrate custom ASICs, FPGAs, and high‑speed transceivers.
- Drive board bring‑up, debug, and validation using industry‑standard lab equipment.
- Develop verification strategies, test plans, and functional test procedures based on system‑level requirements.
- Work with manufacturing partners and vendors on DFM/DFA reviews and production readiness.
- Support transition to production, including factory test strategy, automation, and yield improvement.
- Identify technical risks early, communicate clearly, and drive resolution with data‑backed decisions.
- Influence hardware best practices and raise the bar for design quality across the team.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience designing and delivering board‑level hardware in production environments.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex hardware programs from architecture through bring‑up and production.
- Strong experience in high‑speed digital design, including DDR, PCIe, Ethernet, or similar SERDES technologies.
- Experience with signal integrity, power integrity, and constraint‑driven PCB design.
- Hands‑on experience with board bring‑up, debugging, and electrical validation.
- Proficiency in professional ECAD tools such as Cadence (Allegro/OrCAD), Altium Designer, or similar.
- Strong documentation, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Working understanding of RF fundamentals (deep RF specialization not required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing hardware for phased array antennas, customer terminals, or high‑density RF‑adjacent systems.
- Experience with power supply design and power distribution analysis.
- Familiarity with ASIC, FPGA, and high‑speed interconnect integration.
- Experience working in high‑volume consumer or fleet‑scale hardware production environments.
- MS or PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Experience designing automated test systems, factory test solutions, or hardware validation infrastructure.
- Programming or scripting experience for test, automation, or instrumentation control.
- Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring other hardware engineers.
