About The Position
The Senior Corporate Counsel/Special Assistant General Counsel is responsible for a wide range of matters in the legal practice area of energy and utility regulation, with an emphasis in regulations, rules, and policies of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) concerning electric transmission, generation and natural gas regulation. This position provides legal advice and support to internal Ameren clients relating to the area of specialty.

Qualifications
Juris Doctorate Degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school required. Ten or more years of experience in a law firm, corporate legal department or other comparable legal setting with experience in an area of specialty required. Licensed and eligible to practice in a U.S. State is required. Advanced knowledge of legal primary practice area (FERC regulation) required. Transaction experience in wholesale energy, interconnection, transmission and related matters is preferred.

Fifteen or more years of experience in a law firm, corporate legal department or other comparable legal setting with experience in an area of specialty required. Licensed in good standing and eligible to practice in a U.S. State is required. Advanced knowledge of legal primary practice area (FERC regulation) required. Transaction experience in wholesale energy, interconnection, transmission and related matters is preferred.
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate: Expert knowledge and skills with legal software systems (i.e., LEXIS and/or Westlaw) required. Proficiency with general computer skills and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic
Additional Information
Ameren’s selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates. Candidates considered will be located in the Washington D.C. area reporting to Ameren's D.C. office, but we would consider a person in the St. Louis area, reporting to Ameren's primary St. Louis office, in which case regular travel to D.C. should be anticipated.
