Key functions include but are not limited to the following: - Working with strong technical expertise and limited supervision, the Senior Claim Specialist-Litigation effectively manages a caseload of Major Case General Liability, Commercial Auto, EPL and other Complex Claims through coverage analysis, investigation, damage evaluation, litigation management, reserving, and resolution. - Develop positive business relationships with defense counsel and work with them closely to develop cost-effective litigation strategies and develop action plans to manage cases to an early conclusion. Ability to direct defense counsel to execute developed litigation strategies. - Prepare and present large loss reports. - Completion of decision trees to assist with detailed reserving analysis. - Establish timely and accurate claim and expense reserves. - Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits. - Attend mediations, settlement conferences and trials. - Draft timely Reservation of Rights, Coverage Disclaimer, Claim Tenders, along with other complex correspondence. - Understand how to interpret sub-contract agreements. - Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures. - Manage file inventory to ensure timely resolution of cases. - Handle files in compliance with state regulations. - Provide excellent customer service to meet the needs of the insured, agent and all other internal and external customers. - Perform administrative functions such as document preparation, expense accounts, time off reporting, etc. as required. - Perform other duties as assigned.Mid-Senior Level
