We're seeking a Senior Communications Consultant- Subject Matter Expert to support the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in strategic communications consulting for external clients, experience working with or supporting VA, and is ambitious with the ability to lean into complex challenges. This position is a hybrid role with the needed commitment of 3-4 days on-site, located in Washington, DC.

Role Summary Leads design and execution of change management and communications strategies for large-scale transformation initiatives. Advises client leadership on adoption, stakeholder alignment, and behavior change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of integrated change and communications strategies
  • Advise leadership on change risks, adoption barriers, and mitigation approaches
  • Oversee stakeholder engagement and communications planning
  • Guide development of communications and training materials
  • Lead analysis of stakeholder, impact, and readiness data
  • Track adoption metrics and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Coordinate across teams to ensure consistent messaging and execution

Essential Duties

  • Develop and execute change management plans and communications strategies
  • Conduct stakeholder analyses, impact assessments, and readiness evaluations
  • Develop communications products including presentations, emails, and briefings
  • Design and support delivery of training and engagement activities
  • Monitor adoption metrics and report on progress, risks, and issues
  • Facilitate client meetings and workshops

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 8+ years of experience in change management, communications, or consulting with familiarity of EHRM
  • Experience leading change initiatives in federal or large-scale environments
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • Prosci or similar change management certification
  • Experience in federal consulting environments
  • Familiarity with Agile or project management frameworks
  • Experience supporting technology or transformation programs

Salary is commensurate with experience.
