Responsibilities

The Senior AI/ML Engineer is a hands-on builder who owns the highest-complexity agentic and LLM-enabled work in the Finance Shared Services pillar. This role designs and implements multi-agent systems, intelligent document processing at scale, and advanced predictive or generative solutions that extend the program beyond traditional RPA. The Senior AI/ML Engineer mentors AI/ML Engineers, partners tightly with the Solution Architect, and represents the pillar in cross-program AI practice forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead design and implementation of high-complexity agentic and LLM-enabled solutions, including UiPath Maestro-based orchestration and multi-agent systems.
  • Build and deploy advanced ML, LLM, and agentic components end-to-end, with production-grade reliability and observability.
  • Define evaluation, monitoring, and responsible AI practices for pillar solutions, aligned to Mayo Clinic standards.
  • Partner with the Solution Architect on architecture, reuse, and standards, and with delivery teams on implementation.
  • Mentor AI/ML Engineers across the pillar and support their growth.
  • Represent Finance Shared Services in cross-pillar AI practice forums; share patterns with Revenue Cycle and IA Enablement.
  • Evaluate emerging AI capabilities and drive adoption decisions for the pillar.


Qualifications

A master’s degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, health science, or a related field with 4 years of experience

OR

A bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience


• Extensive experience applying AI and machine learning in production healthcare environments or similar highly regulated or technology focused industries, showcasing an understanding of healthcare technology.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing complex projects, with a proven ability to navigate intricate project requirements and deliver successful outcomes.
• Proficiency in fostering collaboration across diverse teams and effectively communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated expertise in cloud infrastructure environment and software development tools.
• Experience working with large, complex, and heterogeneous data sets, preferably in healthcare.
• Skilled in AI/ML techniques and frameworks.
• Familiarity with best practices in data engineering, data science, AI Engineering, and the MLOps communities.
• Demonstrated initiative in administration, education, software development, and technical reporting.
• A commitment to mentoring and training less-experienced team members, coupled with strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern ML/AI libraries (PyTorch or TensorFlow, LangChain or LangGraph, scikit-learn).
  • Experience with UiPath Maestro, AI Center, Document Understanding, Communications Mining, or comparable automation AI tooling.
  • Experience with Azure, GCP or another major cloud platform for AI workloads, including MLOps tooling.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and shaping technical practice.
  • Relevant AI certifications (Azure AI Engineer, AWS ML Specialty, etc.).
