Sr Adv E-CAD Specialist
Canonsburg, PA
Pay Estimated: $65.21 - $71.00/Hour
Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop printed wiring boards (PWBs) in collaboration with Program Management, Electrical, Mechanical, and Component Engineering teams
- Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, constraint management, and netlist validation/debug
- Create and verify schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and padstacks
- Develop stack-ups, impedance models, and transmission line designs
- Execute design rule checks (DRC) and resolve layout/design errors
- Generate and manage Gerber, ODB++, and full design documentation packages
- Convert legacy schematics (PDF → Capture CIS) and layouts (Gerber/PDF → Allegro) into native formats
- Support mixed-signal, analog, digital, RF, high-speed, and power designs
- Work with standard interfaces and protocols: Ethernet, PCI, VPX, DDR, RS-485, SATA, USB, 12C
- Participate in formal design reviews and checklist completion
- Manage multiple concurrent designs with daily status reporting and file releases
- Support expedited design efforts and potential 2nd shift collaboration
- Maintain design data in central repositories (e.g., Windchill) and support team-wide collaboration
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field + 8 years experience, OR Master’s degree + 6 years experience
- Tools & Technologies:
- Cadence Capture CIS, Allegro (primary tools)
- Familiarity with: Altium, Xpedition, Gerber, ODB++, CAM350, Valor, Polar Si9000, Zplanner
- Mechanical/Collaboration tools: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, eDrawings, Windchill
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Technical Expertise:
- PCB design standards: IPC, J-STD, MIL-Spec, ASME, ESD, UL, RoHS
- Circuit design topologies: mixed signal, analog, digital, RF, high-speed, power (linear & switching), high voltage/current
- Knowledge of bare board fabrication and circuit card assembly processes
- Strong understanding of electronic component characteristics and layout best practices
- Core Capabilities:
- Ability to translate legacy designs into modern ECAD tools
- Experience managing multiple concurrent PCB designs
- Proficiency in design validation, documentation, and release processes
- Work Requirements:
- Ability to support 2nd shift work and collaborative design sharing as needed
