Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Sr. Accountant / Sr. Associate to join its finance team during a critical phase of organizational build-out. This role is designed to support the continued development of the company’s accounting function as it scales a growing portfolio of utility scale BESS projects. The Sr. Accountant / Sr. Associate will play a key role in day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and close processes, while working closely with the Accounting Manager and Controller. The position offers a unique opportunity to step into a high impact role within a lean team, with exposure to both corporate and project-level accounting in a rapidly growing energy platform.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial data
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting in accordance with GAAP
- Support project-level accounting activities, including tracking capital expenditures and asset-level financials across BESS projects
- Prepare and review supporting schedules and documentation for internal and external reporting
- Assist with audit processes, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of audit deliverables
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager and Controller to improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows
- Partner cross-functionally with project finance, development, and FP&A teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment
- Support technical accounting analysis and research as needed
- Assist in implementing and maintaining accounting systems and reporting tools
- Contribute to building scalable accounting infrastructure as the company grows
Qualifications
- 3–6+ years of experience in accounting, with public accounting experience preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles
- Prior experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or project-based industries preferred
- Experience supporting month end close and financial reporting processes
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast paced, high growth environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- CPA preferred (or in progress)
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools preferred
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship
- Ability to work in the office in Miami 4 days a week
