The Sr. Accountant is responsible for providing advanced fiscal support in the administration and oversight of accounts receivable functions. This may include managing and monitoring activities such as invoicing, collections, refund processing, and account reconciliations. The position requires professionalism, attention to detail, flexibility to assume other duties as assigned, excellent organizational, analytical, and conflict resolution skills. The position ensures accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures. The position serves as a key point of contact, delivering high-quality service and support to students, faculty, staff, and the public.This position receives general direction from the Director of Financial Services and exercises supervision over support staff.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:

Knowledge of: 1. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard accounting practices; 2. Student accounts receivable processes, including billing, collections, and reconciliations; 3. Cash management, internal controls, and financial reporting requirements; 4. FERPA regulations and confidentiality requirements related to student financial records; 5. Applicable federal, state, and institutional policies governing student accounts; Skills in: 6. Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel functions (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis); 7. Using enterprise financial systems and student information systems; 8. Interpreting and applying rules, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance; 9. Analyzing financial data to identify discrepancies and resolve issues; 10. Organizing work with strong attention to detail and follow-through; 11. Providing excellent customer service in a student-facing environment; 12. Working independently exercising sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving in complex situations; 13. Maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards; Ability to: 14. Analyze and reconcile financial records, identifying and correcting errors; 15. Manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; 16. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with diverse audiences; 17. Respond to inquiries and resolve complaints from students, staff, and external stakeholders; 18. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, college employees, and the general public; 19. Provide caring, high-quality service by creating welcoming experiences, communicating clearly and proactively, addressing needs with professionalism and empathy, and ensuring individuals are thoughtfully connected to appropriate resources.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university

Experience: More than one year of work experience in a financial setting


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Work experience in an accounting or accounts receivables setting
