Pivotal Athletes is the financial quarterback for NIL and professional athletes. Most athletes have a financial advisor in one corner and a manager in another — barely talking to each other. We built Pivotal to be both. One firm coordinating every dollar, every deal, and every decision under one team that actually communicates.

We serve NIL athletes earning $150K and above, and professional athletes across four integrated tracks: licensed financial advisory, in-house athlete management, recruitment navigation, and NIL intelligence. Based in Boston, working with athletes nationwide.

Role Description

Pivotal Athletes is hiring for two distinct commission-based roles on our athlete management team. This posting covers both — apply once, tell us in your application which track fits you best (or if you'd consider either).

Track 1 — NIL Partnership Associate. You own the brand deal pipeline. Build brand relationships, source NIL partnerships for our athletes, and close deals from first outreach to signed contract. You get paid per deal you personally source and close.

Track 2 — Athlete Relations Associate. You own the athlete pipeline. Identify, build relationships with, and sign prospective athlete clients — NIL athletes, transfer portal players, draft prospects, and families navigating recruitment. You get paid recurring commission on every athlete who signs and stays with Pivotal.

Both roles are remote and open to candidates nationwide. Both include a performance-to-hire pathway and academic credit where applicable.

Which track fits you?

  • You're a deal-closer with brand or business network, comfortable with cold outreach, and want to get paid per deal → Partnership Associate
  • You're a relationship-builder embedded in sports, with athlete or family connections, and want recurring compensation → Athlete Relations Associate

Compensation

Commission-based with no ceiling. Structure depends on the track:

  • Partnership Associate: Earn a percentage of every brand deal you personally source and close for Pivotal Athletes clients. Transactional commission — you get paid when deals close.
  • Athlete Relations Associate: Earn a percentage of recurring advisory revenue on every athlete you bring in who signs with Pivotal. Residual commission — you get paid every month your signed athletes remain clients.

Performance-to-hire pathway for top performers in either track. Academic credit available where applicable.

What you'll do

If you're on the Partnership track:

  • Source brand partnerships for Pivotal Athletes' roster of NIL and professional athletes
  • Build and maintain relationships with brand decision-makers, marketing teams, and agencies
  • Own the full deal cycle — outreach, pitch, negotiation, contract, and handoff to the management team
  • Work directly with the founder on pipeline strategy and target accounts
  • Help build the playbook for an operation that will scale

If you're on the Relations track:

  • Identify prospective athlete clients — NIL athletes, transfer portal players, draft prospects, and families navigating recruitment
  • Build authentic relationships with athletes, parents, trainers, and coaches in your network
  • Educate athletes on the value of an integrated financial and management approach — why working with Pivotal is different from working with a traditional advisor or a management-only firm
  • Coordinate introductory calls and meetings between prospective athletes and the founder
  • Represent Pivotal at events, combines, camps, and athlete-facing settings where appropriate
  • Help build the playbook for athlete acquisition as the operation scales

What we're looking for (both tracks)

  • Current student or recent grad in business, marketing, sports management, communications, or anything adjacent — major matters less than drive, network, and character
  • Self-starter energy — you don't need a manager to tell you what to do today
  • Comfort with outbound outreach — cold calls, cold emails, direct messages, and reaching out to people you don't know
  • Clear communication, confident presence, ability to speak credibly with decision-makers
  • Basic understanding of NIL, NCAA regulations, and the college sports landscape
  • Reliable internet and a professional setup for video calls

What we're looking for (track-specific)

  • Partnership track: Existing relationships with brand marketing, agency, or small business decision-makers that you could leverage for outreach. Sales instinct and comfort with negotiation.
  • Relations track: Existing relationships in college or professional athletics — former athlete, current athlete, team manager, trainer, or deep network in a specific sport or region. High integrity and ability to have honest, trust-building conversations with athletes and families about money, careers, and long-term decisions.
