Job Title: Special Inspector
Job Description
A growing engineering and testing organization is seeking a Special Inspector to support expanding operations across Northern Utah. In this role, you will perform specialized inspections and testing on a variety of projects, providing both strategic and hands-on support to service center leadership and field teams. Responsibilities
- Perform special inspections within your current certification areas, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
- Maintain all required certifications, including existing credentials and any newly obtained certifications, and keep them current.
- Complete and submit accurate inspection and testing reports on a daily basis, documenting findings and communicating results clearly.
- Conduct ACI Level I concrete testing as needed to support construction quality control and verification activities.
- Perform soil compaction testing as required, interpreting results and reporting any non-conformances promptly.
- Support technician training by sharing technical knowledge, best practices, and assisting with documentation of procedures and standards.
- Maintain the assigned company vehicle in clean, safe, and serviceable condition, and complete monthly vehicle reports as required.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures while working on job sites and in testing environments.
- Collaborate with service center leadership and field teams to plan, prioritize, and execute inspection and testing assignments efficiently.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project needs and overall team success.
Essential Skills
- ICC Reinforced Concrete certification and/or Structural Masonry certification and/or ACI Level II certification.
- Active State of Utah DOPL license.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate and maintain a company vehicle.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Hands-on experience performing special inspections in one or more of the following areas: reinforced concrete, structural masonry, structural steel, spray-applied fireproofing, or prestressed concrete.
- Ability to perform ACI Level I concrete testing and soil compaction testing as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing and submitting daily inspection and testing reports.
- Commitment to working safely and following established safety protocols on all job sites.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with leadership, field teams, and technicians.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with ICC Reinforced Concrete and Structural Masonry inspection.
- Experience with structural steel inspection.
- Experience with spray-applied fireproofing inspection.
- Experience with ICC Prestressed Concrete inspection.
- Demonstrated ability to support and mentor technicians through training and documentation.
- Interest in working on a variety of projects that positively impact communities across the state.
- Desire to grow within a collaborative, professional engineering and consulting environment that emphasizes quality and cost-effective solutions.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Midvale, UT.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr.
