Role Description The Special Education Teacher is a full-time, on-site position located in Tulsa, OK. This role includes planning and delivering individualized instruction for students with learning differences, aligned with accommodations/modifications. The teacher will differentiate lessons, provide small-group and one-on-one support, and use evidence-based strategies to address academic, social, and behavioral needs. Daily responsibilities include monitoring student progress, collecting data, and collaborating with colleagues, related service providers, and administrators to refine instructional plans. The teacher will communicate regularly with families or caregivers, maintain accurate documentation, contribute to IEP meetings, and help create an inclusive, safe, and encouraging classroom environment that supports students’ strengths and independence.
Qualifications
- Experience working with students with learning Disabilities, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, with an understanding of diverse learning needs and supports.
- Strong Teaching skills, including lesson planning, differentiation, classroom management, and use of evidence-based instructional strategies.
- Background in Middle School education and comfort teaching across core subject areas for this age group.
- Special Education training and experience, including developing and implementing IEPs and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Effective Communication skills for working with students, families or caregivers, colleagues, and related service providers.
- State teaching certification or eligibility in Special Education (or related field); bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a closely related discipline required.
- Ability to build supportive, respectful relationships with neurodiverse students and promote a positive, strengths-based classroom climate.
- Familiarity with progress monitoring, data-driven instruction, and basic assistive technology or accommodations for students with learning differences.
- Commitment to professional growth, continuous learning, and collaboration within a mission-driven school community.
