Summary:
Stinger is seeking a Solutions & Systems Engineer to join our IT team in a hands-on role supporting core systems and developing innovative technical solutions. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Linux and Windows servers, networks, and cloud infrastructure while also building custom integrations and web applications to meet business needs. The ideal candidate is a versatile problem-solver with a strong systems engineering background and a passion for delivering practical, creative solutions. This role reports to the Director of Infrastructure & Cybersecurity and offers the opportunity to make a direct impact through both reliable infrastructure and solution development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and maintain Linux and Windows environments to ensure high availability, security, and performance of all critical systems. This includes overseeing the setup and upgrade of network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, switches, routers, firewalls) and enforcing networking best practices for cybersecurity and compliance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and security, ensuring reliable connectivity and implementing best practices like regular patches, backups, and access controls to protect data and systems.
- Deploy and manage resources in cloud environments (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) to support scalable infrastructure.
- Optimize cloud usage, handle virtualization or containerization as needed, and ensure seamless integration between on-premises and cloud systems.
- Develop and utilize automation scripts and tools (Bash and PowerShell) to streamline system administration tasks, configuration management, software deployments, and monitoring.
- Architect and build custom technical solutions to solve business challenges. This includes developing integrations between enterprise systems and creating custom web applications or internal tools that improve workflows and efficiency.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to design and implement scalable solutions using appropriate technologies.
- Leverage NetSuite SuiteQL (SQL-based query language) and Suitelets (custom NetSuite web scripts) to create new functionalities, reports, and system integrations.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams and end-users to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications and solution designs.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to IT team members, troubleshooting complex issues and ensuring a rapid resolution for any system or application problems.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for system configurations, processes, and custom solution designs.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure management, or a similar role.
- 5+ years of experience administering Linux and Windows Server operating systems, including installation, configuration, patch management, and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, LAN/WAN, VPN) and experience managing network devices and firewalls.
- Practical experience deploying and managing systems in cloud environments (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or GCP), including familiarity with virtual machines, storage, and networking services in the cloud.
- Proficiency in scripting languages and automation tools, especially Bash and PowerShell scripting for automating system tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions promptly.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience in a senior or lead engineer role, including driving projects, mentoring engineers, and working directly with stakeholders in agile or fast-paced environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP, including SuiteScripts, Suitelets, SuiteQL, workflows, custom records, and permissions; NetSuite certifications are a plus.
- Administration of Linux and Windows Server environments, with solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls) and general troubleshooting.
- Experience deploying and managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), with exposure to CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and system monitoring tools.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Bash, PowerShell, and TypeScript/JavaScript; experience building internal web applications, RESTful integrations, and working with JSON/XML data.
- Familiarity with git, IT service management or ticketing systems, security best practices, and relevant industry certifications (cloud, networking, security, or infrastructure).
Environmental/Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
- Crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, and lifting occasionally
- Operating computer, telephone, voicemail, and other office equipment regularly
- Must be able to lift up-to 25lbs on a regular basis
Hours – Full Time: Monday – Friday with the ability to work variable extended hours; may include travel at times which can include evenings and/or weekends.
Travel: 5 to 10% travel during project deployment
