Job Title: Solder Technician

Job Description

The Solder Technician assembles and solders printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) and related components with a strong focus on quality and precision. This role involves working with fine-gauge wires, small parts, and motherboards while following visual aids, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate and reliable electronic assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Solder components onto printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
  • Strip and prepare 30-gauge and other fine-gauge wires for soldering and assembly.
  • Assemble and wire electronic components according to visual aids, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Use hand soldering techniques and soldering tools to complete detailed and delicate work on small parts and motherboards.
  • Inspect solder joints and assemblies to ensure the quality of solder on the PCB board meets required standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to perform accurate soldering and wiring tasks.
  • Work under a microscope to handle and assemble very small components and fine-gauge wiring.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and materials safely and correctly.
  • Follow established processes, work instructions, and visual aids to ensure consistent and precise results.
  • Identify and communicate any defects, issues, or discrepancies in assemblies or documentation to the appropriate personnel.

Essential Skills

  • At least 6 months of hands-on soldering, assembly, or wiring experience.
  • Proficiency in hand soldering techniques for PCBAs and small electronic components.
  • Experience working with 30-gauge and other fine-gauge wires, including stripping and preparing wires for assembly.
  • Ability to read and follow visual aids, blueprints, and schematics accurately.
  • Comfort working under a microscope on small parts and detailed assemblies.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality solder joints and assemblies.
  • Ability to use soldering tools and related equipment safely and effectively.
  • At least 1 year of experience reading and following blueprints and schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience assembling or repairing motherboards or other complex electronic assemblies.
  • in any industry involving fine, detailed soldering or micro-assembly work.
  • Ability to identify and correct soldering defects such as cold joints, bridges, or insufficient wetting.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise work on small components.

Work Environment

This role is based in a hands-on electronics production environment focused on assembling motherboards and small electronic parts. You will regularly work under a microscope to handle fine-gauge wires and delicate components, using soldering tools, hand tools, and other standard assembly equipment. The work involves reading and following detailed blueprints, visual aids, and schematics to complete precise tasks. The environment is structured, process-driven, and quality-focused, with clear work instructions and standards to guide daily activities. Attire is typical for a technical production setting, with appropriate safety and cleanliness requirements based on working with electronic components and tools

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.
