Job Title: Solar Installation Laborer
Job Description

The Solar Installation Laborer supports the construction and installation of commercial-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on rooftop and carport projects. You will work on flat and pitched roofs as well as carport structures, assembling racking systems, placing and securing solar modules, pulling wire, and assisting the installation team to complete projects safely and efficiently. This role is physically demanding, requires working at heights and outdoors in various weather conditions, and calls for consistent adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation of commercial-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on flat roofs, pitched roofs, and carport structures.
  • Assemble and install racking systems according to project plans and safety requirements.
  • Place, position, and securely fasten solar modules on rooftop and carport structures.
  • Pull wire and assist with basic electrical routing tasks under the direction of the foreman or lead installer.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly to support installation and general construction activities.
  • Follow all site-specific and company safety protocols, including fall protection and safe work practices at heights.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, and positioning materials and equipment throughout the workday.
  • Handle materials, including loading, unloading, staging, and organizing solar panels, racking, and hardware on the jobsite.
  • Support site cleanup by removing debris, organizing tools and materials, and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
  • Assist the foreman and installation team with general construction duties as needed to keep the project on schedule.
  • Travel to various jobsites within approximately one hour’s drive, arriving on time and prepared to work.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, communicating clearly and following instructions to ensure safe and efficient project completion.
Essential Skills
  • Proven construction labor experience, including familiarity with outdoor jobsite conditions.
  • Ability to work safely and comfortably outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Capability to stand and remain on your feet for 8 or more hours per day.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools, equipment, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 or more pounds repeatedly during the workday.
  • Comfort working at heights on flat and pitched roofs and elevated carport structures.
  • Experience using basic hand tools and power tools in a construction environment.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to commute to different jobsites across the valley, potentially up to an hour away.
  • Strong reliability, work ethic, and willingness to perform physically demanding labor.
  • Commitment to following all safety protocols and procedures on active construction sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience on commercial construction sites or solar installation projects is beneficial.
  • Ability to adapt to changing jobsite locations and varying project schedules.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with foremen and crew members.
  • Self-motivated attitude with the ability to take direction and complete tasks with minimal supervision once trained.
  • Interest in developing skills in the solar and renewable energy industry.

Work Environment

This role is based entirely in an outdoor construction environment on active commercial jobsites. You will work on rooftops, carports, and other elevated structures, often in varying weather conditions and temperatures. The current schedule is Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the potential for schedule adjustments as project needs and seasons change. Work involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and carrying materials throughout the day. You will regularly use hand tools and power tools, and you must wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, at all times while on site. Jobsite locations vary across the valley, and you should expect to commute up to about an hour to reach different project locations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $27.00/hr.
