Job Title: Solar Field Foreman

Pay: 35-50/hr plus travel, per diem and scale work

Job Description

The Solar Field Foreman oversees day-to-day solar installation activities across multiple large-scale commercial solar construction sites while traveling weekly to out-of-town projects from Monday through Thursday. This role coordinates crews, manages schedules, ensures quality and safety standards, and supports the successful and timely completion of solar projects under the direction of the Project Manager and Solar Field Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate daily installations of various solar systems on large-scale commercial projects, typically over 1 megawatt.
  • Lead, direct, and support installation crews, typically managing 4–6 team members and up to 12 or more during peak project phases.
  • Take responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and established compliance procedures.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate all work activities for assigned projects to maintain progress and meet milestones.
  • Review and interpret specifications, drawings, and project documents to ensure accurate and compliant installation.
  • Plan and manage the installation of all electrical and specialized electrical systems associated with solar projects.
  • Monitor the quality of work completed each day and address issues promptly to maintain high standards.
  • Communicate daily with the construction supervisor to provide updates on progress, challenges, and resource needs.
  • Manage time and schedules to ensure deadlines are consistently met across multiple project phases.
  • Conduct daily meetings focused on production, performance, and safety to keep crews aligned and informed.
  • Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes on all installations.
  • Work across varied environments including flat roofs, pitched roofs, and ground-mount solar installations.
  • Ensure appropriate tools, materials, and resources are available on-site to support efficient project execution.

Essential Skills

  • Previous hands-on solar installation or solar construction experience.
  • Previous foreman or field leadership experience, or sufficient field experience to step into a foreman-level role.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from specifications, drawings, and project documents.
  • Experience planning and managing installations of electrical and specialized electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of NEC requirements and local electrical codes as they relate to solar installations.
  • Proven ability to lead, coordinate, and motivate field crews on active construction sites.
  • Capability to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and meet project deadlines consistently.
  • Strong communication skills for daily coordination with supervisors and crew members.
  • Ability to travel out of town every week from Monday through Thursday.
  • Valid driver's license.

Work Environment

You work primarily on active construction sites focused on commercial solar installations, including flat roofs, pitched roofs, and ground-mount arrays. The typical schedule is Monday through Thursday with 10-hour days, with Friday reserved as a weather make-up day when needed. Most job sites are approximately 1.5 hours or more from the home office, and the role requires weekly out-of-town travel, with three nights of per diem each week. For prevailing wage projects, travel time is not paid, while for non-prevailing wage projects, drive time is paid. You will use a company vehicle that is stocked with tools to support your work on-site, and you operate in a fast-paced, field-based environment that emphasizes safety, code compliance, and teamwork.

The pay range for this position is $72800.00 - $83200.00/yr.
