Enterprise Finance Technology has embarked on an ambitious Finance and Accounting Transformation program and as part of that we're looking for a Software Sr Engineer who will partner with the key business, finance, and Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) leaders to drive all activities, including strategy, planning, and implementation of key deliverables for the new Instrument level Calculation Services.  Focus will be on development, testing, and deployment of compute, calculation and data storage of critical financial balances to support General Ledger and Regulatory reporting requirements. You will be part of a team that will work closely with Line of Business Controllers to ensure that the bank meets all its daily and monthly financial and compliance requirements. This is a unique opportunity to make a huge impact to the Finance Technology area as various transformational projects are implemented. 
Seeking a Seasoned Development Lead with experience in design, development of enterprise systems, and handling high volumes of data. Technologies used are a suite of state-of-the-art tools which include Python, Spark, Scala, Kafka, etc. 
Responsibilities include: 

  • Drives and participates in design, development, and implementation of large and complex application, owning your solution through implementation.
  • Design, develop, and deliver production-grade, reusable, scalable, and well-architected solutions using Python and/or Scala programming languages. 
  • Works closely with developers and testers to ensure requirements and functional designs are translated accurately into working technical designs, and that test plans and scripts meet customer needs. 
  • Perform end-to-end data pipeline testing by consistently measuring solution delivery against model development best practices and standards for performance efficiency, flexibility, and optimization.
  • Works with developers and business partners to understand application defects, performance problems, and data anomalies. 
  • Creates a roadmap for implementation of various data preparation activities for model team and troubleshoots data questions. 
  • Drives requirements and design discussions in Agile methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years of Apache Spark design and development experience using Scala, Java, Python or Data Frames with Resilient Distributed Datasets (RDDs)
  • 3 + years of experience designing software solutions using software architecture design principles
  • 5+ years of Kafka Platform experience, Confluent Platform experience, or a combination of both


Desired Qualifications

  • An industry-standard technology certification
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
  • Ability to motivate staff to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment


Other Desired Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics or reporting
  • 5+ years of JavaScript Frameworks experience (jQuery, Ext JS, Kendo UI and/or Angular JS)
  • 5+ years of experience delivering ETL, data warehouse and data analytics capabilities on big-data architecture such as Hadoop
