Responsibilities

We areseekingSoftware Developer Intern candidatesfor ourStructures Group.The role involves developing, implementing, andmaintainingstandalonedesign applications, plugins for 3rd party programs, and shared code libraries. All software will be used in-houseby Walter PMooreengineers and project staff.The role demands familiarity with standard industry concepts, practices, and procedures. It requires adherence to pre-defined instructions and guidelines.Key responsibilities include:

  • Assistwith the design, prototyping, coding, testing, deploying, and debugging of applications that address our most challenging engineeringand designproblems.
  • Assistsenior developers with resolving technical challenges that may arise during thedevelopmentlifecycle and debugging errors that may be discovered after release.
  • Be the front line in helping users work around limitations in our applications.
  • Follow established programming standards and development processes.
  • Work collaboratively with other developers across large code bases shared by multiple applications.
  • Develop support materials for applications including program documentation, operational instructions, and training resources.
  • Develop solutions to bridge different software systems, including scripting and creating new software for seamless integration.Such systems include Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, Rhino/Grasshopper, and Excel.
  • Stay abreast ofnew technologies, selectively recommending adoption to ensure our digital infrastructureremainscutting-edge.

Accessing3rd-partyAPIs, ensuringintegrity of serialized and persisted data, employing numerical methods and optimization algorithms,accurateimplementation of building code provisions, creation of 2D and 3D visualizations,and reporting calculation stepsare integral parts of this role.

Qualifications

    • At least 12 credit hours of civil engineering coursework towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineeringrequired. Those currently pursuing aMaster’sdegree preferred.
    • Proficiencyin C#programming on .NET; familiarity with Python preferred
    • Competence in object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.
    • Experience with CSVandJSON serialization formats; familiarity with XML and binary preferred
    • Competencein use of assembly-based (e.g.DLL) and web-based (e.g.REST) APIs
    • Familiaritywith the Visual Studio development environment or equivalent, including unit testing, package management, version control, and AI copilot integration.
    • Candidates must be proactive and self-driven, have strong problem solving and organizational skills, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be client-service oriented.
