This position is responsible for licensing and monitoring Adult Care Facilities in a cooperative effort between the state of North Carolina and the county, primarily for six family care homes and five adult care homes. Compliant investigation and corrective as well as negative action may result from these duties. This position also provides technical assistance and consultation to adult care home administrators on licensing requirements, monitors facilities to ensure the resident’s condition, nutritional needs, medication administration, fire/safety requirements, and health standards are met. The Adult Home Specialist conducts quarterly focused monitoring of each Family Care Home or Assisted Living facility, specifically focused on physical plant and life safety, staff qualifications, staffing requirements, and resident funds. The position will assess and monitor rule compliance on routine basis and report compliance or non-compliance to the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation; follow-up evaluations of all deficiencies/violations cited on a Monitoring Report or Corrective Action Report to determine if the deficiency/violation is corrected within the allowable time frame; document case records for the purpose of service provision and planning, justification of action taken, court evidence if necessary, and accountability requirements; and prepare cases for negative licensure action by submitting findings that have been documented during visits to the Home or Assisted Living facility. The Adult Home Specialist is also the first point of contact for prospective applicants who are interested in opening a Family Care Home in the county. The position must respond to all inquiries regarding license applications for family care homes and conduct initial interviews with applicants/authorized representatives to provide an overview of the licensure rules, refer to the local zoning boards, and direct the applicant to submit all required information. This position includes completing adult services intake on a rotating basis during normal business hours.

Employee must possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work ; Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience
PREFERENCES: Prefer applicants with BSW or MSW Degrees from an accredited college or university; or social work experience in a Department of Social Services and Human Services Degree; or social work experience in a human services setting and a Human Services degree; or a Human Services-related Master's Level Degree.
