Day ShiftDescription:POSITION PURPOSE
Oversees the daily operations of the nursing skills lab—collaborating with the Manager of Clinical Coordination, Simulation Coordinator, and course faculty—to ensure a high‑quality, well‑organized experiential learning environment that supports student skill development and academic success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Mercy College and MercyOne Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
Assists faculty with scheduled lab teaching and prepares all required materials in advance, including setting up and breaking down workstations with appropriate equipment.
Supervises student lab activities outside of scheduled class times, including scheduling, teaching, evaluating skill demonstrations, overseeing supervised practice, simulation drills, and providing skills remediation.
Establishes, posts, and maintains the “Open Lab” schedule each semester, ensuring adequate coverage and student access.
Maintains an organized, safe, and fully functional laboratory environment by managing inventory; acquiring durable and disposable equipment and supplies within budget; and reporting equipment issues as needed.
Ensures compliance with laboratory standards and safety guidelines, including cleaning, sanitizing, replenishing supplies, managing linens and PPE, and overseeing proper disposal of hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. Educates students on applicable safety and disposal procedures.
Serves as a resource for faculty and students regarding nursing lab operations, equipment use, and skill-related inquiries.
Collaborates with DLT and the enrollment team to coordinate demonstrations and support activities for prospective students.
Assists with scheduled student skills remediation sessions and supports the development of metrics, assessments, and other tools to enhance lab and program effectiveness.
Other duties as needed and assigned by the leader.
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in Nursing with 3 years of clinical experience required.
Active Iowa RN license.
Experience teaching psychomotor skills to pre‑licensure nursing students, including guiding hands‑on skill development and competency‑based learning.
Demonstrated understanding of the principles and best practices of basic laboratory operations, including equipment use, workflow management, and environmental organization.
Knowledge of established safety standards related to chemical and blood‑borne pathogen exposure, infection control, sterilization and decontamination procedures, and proper hazardous‑waste management.
Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
