Role Description

Apellix is seeking a full-time Skilled Painter / Drone Support Technician to join our on-site team in Jacksonville, FL. This role is well suited for someone with painting experience who is dependable, professional in front of customers, and interested in learning simple drone support tasks that can be taught on the job.


This person will help prepare equipment and materials, support product demonstrations at the facility, assist at potential customer job sites, clean and maintain tools and work areas, and help keep the warehouse and development workspace organized and presentable for software and hardware technicians working on the spray painting system. Customer-facing communication, professionalism, and attention to cleanliness are also consistent with customer support and warehouse technician expectations. Additional responsibilities include training, troubleshooting, and conducting routine maintenance to maintain high-performance operations in a fast-paced environment while adhering to safety and quality standards.


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Paint and Spray Painting techniques with 1–3 years of painting experience, preferably using spray equipment or working in hands-on jobsite environments
  • Experience with Painting, Spray Painting, and Coatings applications
  • Entry- to mid-level experience is welcome; willingness to learn is more important than advanced drone or technical knowledgeTechnical aptitude for maintaining and troubleshooting equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
  • Prior experience in drone operation, robotics, or aerial systems (preferred but not required)
  • Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, team-focused environment
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, as required
  • High school diploma or GED; additional technical certifications are a plus


Core duties

  • Assist with paint and coating preparation, masking, surface prep, material handling, and spray equipment setup for demonstrations and field activities.
  • Support spray painting drone operations during internal demos, customer visits, and potential job site activities.
  • Clean, maintain, and properly store spray equipment, hoses, tools, and related materials after each use.
  • Help stage and prepare equipment for transport to and from customer locations or demonstration sites.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional warehouse and workspace, including areas used by software and hardware technicians developing the spray painting system.
  • Assist with general shop upkeep, inventory organization, and maintaining readiness of tools, supplies, and work areas.
  • Represent Apellix professionally when interacting with customers, visitors, and partners at the facility or in the field.
  • Follow safety procedures, use equipment properly, and help maintain a safe working environment.

This is a full-time position at our facility in Jacksonville, Florida. You cannot work remotely.
