Now Hiring: Site Safety Specialist / Permit Writer

Location: Seabrook area

Schedule: Part-Time, Alternate Weekends

Industry: Petrochemical / Refining / Terminal Operations

We are currently seeking an experienced Site Safety Specialist / Permit Writer for a part-time weekend position in the Seabrook area. This role is ideal for a seasoned safety professional looking for extra work and who brings a strong background in permit writing, field safety oversight, and high hazard work activities within petrochemical refining or terminal operations.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of site safety experience in petrochemical, refining, or terminal environments and must be highly experienced in issuing, reviewing, and managing permits for high risk work.

This position requires a strong working knowledge of site safety requirements, the ability to work independently, and the confidence to support operations and contractors in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue, review, and manage permits for high risk work activities
  • Support safe execution of work involving hot work, confined space entry, excavation, trenching, and permit to work systems
  • Verify all work is properly planned, authorized, and executed in compliance with site safety procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct field reviews of work areas before permits are issued
  • Confirm hazards are identified and appropriate controls are in place prior to job start
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, contractors, and site leadership to support safe work execution
  • Monitor active work areas to verify permit compliance and safe work practices
  • Assist with JSAs / JHAs and pre-job hazard assessments as needed
  • Stop work when unsafe conditions or non-compliant activities are observed
  • Maintain accurate permit records and documentation
  • Participate in audits, safety observations, and incident review support when needed
  • Promote a strong safety culture through field presence, communication, and accountability

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in site safety within petrochemical refining or terminal operations
  • Strong experience as a permit writer in an industrial operating environment
  • Demonstrated experience with:
  • Hot work permits
  • Confined space entry permits
  • Excavation and trenching permits
  • Permit to work systems
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices related to high hazard work
  • Experience reviewing job scope, hazards, and required controls before authorizing work
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional presence and confidence in the field
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting both company personnel and contractors in active operating facilities
  • Knowledge of energy isolation/lockout tagout, line breaking, and safe work boundaries
  • Experience conducting field audits and safety observations
  • Incident investigation experience is a plus
  • Current OSHA 30 preferred
  • TWIC card preferred, if required by site
  • CPR / First Aid certification preferred
