Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Simulation Engineer (DES). This role is responsible for building discrete event simulation models and analyzing manufacturing systems to inform factory and line design decisions. The position supports early-stage engineering by validating throughput, buffer sizing, and bottleneck risks ahead of detailed design and sourcing.
Job Duties
- Build discrete event simulation models for manufacturing and material flow systems (e.g., buffers, ASRS, AGV flows, line balancing)
- Translate production requirements (demand, shifts, product mix, FPY, MTBF/MTTR) into simulation-ready inputs
- Execute scenario and sensitivity analyses to validate throughput, capacity, and operational risk
- Evaluate KPIs such as jobs per hour, jobs per shift, OEE/TEE, and buffer utilization
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend design improvements based on simulation outcomes
- Develop clear, decision-focused reports outlining trade-offs between throughput, risk, and space
- Collaborate with layout, material flow, and industrial engineering teams to align assumptions with constraints
- Maintain model standards, documentation, and structure for consistency and handoff
Skills & Experience
Required
- 3+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing engineering (body, paint, GA, battery, drive unit, or material flow)
- Expert-level proficiency in Autodesk FlexSim
- Experience modeling multi-line assembly systems with buffers and rework loops
- Experience incorporating stochastic elements such as failures, repairs, and process variability
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing KPIs (JPH, JPS, OEE/TEE, MTBF, MTTR, WIP, buffer sizing)
- Ability to structure and clean input data for simulation modeling
- Experience conducting throughput and bottleneck analysis
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
Desired
- Experience with FlexScript, C++, or Python for simulation customization
- Background in greenfield factory design or major production ramp initiatives
- Experience supporting early-phase manufacturing engineering or concept development
- Familiarity with material flow systems such as AGVs and automated storage solutions
