Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Silicon Photonics Active Component Designer to drive the design, development, and characterization of active photonic components within our cutting-edge photonic integrated circuits (PICs) for advanced optical communications. In this role, you will design, optimize, and characterize active devices such as Mach-Zehnder modulators, ring modulators, and high-speed photodiodes. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-performance and scalable photonic solutions.

Key Responsibilities

· Design and develop active silicon photonic components.

· Run simulations and modeling to achieve high performance.

· Collaborate with fab to align designs with fabrication limits.

· Define test methods and drive performance improvements.

· Stay ahead of industry trends to introduce new design ideas and solutions.

· Document designs, specifications, and results to guide future development.

· Mentor junior engineers and promote collaboration within the team.

Required Qualifications

· Master’s or Ph.D. in Photonics or a related field.

· 5+ years in silicon photonics with experience in active device design.

· Proven record in designing and optimizing active devices in PICs.

· Deep understanding of bandwidth, linearity, control, and resonant tuning.

· Proficient in Lumerical, Tidy3D, and Ansys HFSS for photonic design.

· Experience with foundry tapeouts preferred.

· Skilled in Python or MATLAB for data analysis and design optimization.

· Analytical thinker with a proactive approach to solving design challenges.
