Position Summary
The Shows & Experiences General Manager, New Build (GM) has responsibility for the day-to-day management, business & finance operations administration of the Shows & Experiences New Build Department (SENBD) across Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Regent Seven Seas Cruises (RSSC), and Oceania Cruises (OCI).
The primary goal of the GM is to ensure that the New Build Show & Experience Operations run smoothly, efficiently, as per defined budget levels while supporting the Production Manager and the NCLH organization.
Essential Function:
Financial Management
· Manage budget, cost & schedule at the vessel level
· Review Production & technical budget reporting
· Authorize expenditure against designated approved budgets
· Ensure payment terms and payroll are aligned with delivery deadlines
· Reconcile all budgets with the Production Manager
· Manage all per diem and reimbursement approvals
Business Strategy
· Establish, monitor, and manage all insurance, visas, and immigration needs
· Oversees Yard Mission Control
· Serve as principal liaison to shipboard Senior Shows and Experience Manager
· In conjunction with the Production Manager and other relevant NCLH Corporate employees, ensure the company is compliant with all relevant legislation
· Lead cross-functional collaboration between Show & Experiences, Production, Wardrobe, Creative, Onboard Leadership, and Miami Corporate Teams to streamline execution and minimize operational roadblocks
· Engage with Supply Chain Management to lead vendor sourcing, RFP development, bid evaluation, and commercial negotiations, ensuring competitive pricing, clear deliverables, and alignment with project timelines and financial objectives.
· Define and structure contractual frameworks in partnership with Legal and Supply Chain, ensuring alignment with delivery milestones, risk mitigation strategies, and company policies.
· Lead all shipyard-based operational execution, including contractor access, compliance with shipyard protocols, installation logistics, and real-time issue resolution during integration and commissioning phases
New Build Contractor Human Resources
· Hire and Oversee Company Management Teams
· Develop and maintain all staff position descriptions and matrix
· Negotiate, manage, and administer all contracts
· Lead the New Build department's People and Culture function, including responsibility for HR policies and procedures, contracts, employment standards, payroll, recruitment, and onboarding
· Serve as the central point of accountability across all cross-functional stakeholders, driving alignment, resolving conflicts, and ensuring execution remains on schedule and within budget.
New Build Policies & Procedures
· Oversee, refine, and update all new build-related policy documentation and procedures
· Ensure that all applicable internal NCLH policies and procedures are followed
Company Management
· Hire & supervise the Company Manager (CM), and the Assistant General Manager (AGM)
· Accountable for all travel, housing, and company management for the (SENBD) workforce
· Support cast preparation and onboarding for new build installations, partnering with onboard management to ensure a seamless transition into shipyard operations. Provide interim Theatrical Operations leadership during initial embarkation periods, facilitating communication, readiness, and integration of cast and creative teams.
Risk Management
· Manage and maintain a safe working environment
· Proactively identify and resolve operational, financial, and logistical challenges, including vendor delays, budget variances, and resource constraints, to maintain project timelines and delivery standards.
· Identify areas of risk (Financial, physical, and organizational) and bring these to the attention of the Director, Theatrical Ops, GM partners, Production Manager (For Production Management related issues), and other relevant NCLH shoreside employees
· Ensure incidents are reported and addressed in line with department and company policy
Commissioning & Handoff to operations
· Actively support the transition from new build commissioning to operations.
· Facilitate effective integration, communication, and collaboration between the New Build Creative and Operations teams during the handoff process.
· Ensure accountability among stakeholders to guarantee all deliverables and requirements are met
