The Arts and Cultural Heritage Division is seeking multiple staff members for their Show Place Arena/Prince George’s Equestrian Center facility!

The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center is a multipurpose facility owned and operated by The Maryland- National Capital Park & Planning Commission. Part-time opportunities are located at The Show Place Arena/Prince George's Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD.

The following opportunities are available:

FACILITY OPERATIONS STAFF

Custodial and Event Support Assistant

Responsibilities:Cleans and stocks bathrooms and maintains supplies during events. Empties trash cans and office recyclable materials. General cleaning of the facility. Cleans around the buildings and parking lots.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years old or older. Have the ability to lift 25 lbs. Must have the ability to effectively interact with the public and provide courteous service.


Parking Attendant - Parking Services/Traffic Control/Grounds Maintenance

Responsibilities: Directs and gives parking instructions to the public. Gives public general information about events. Secures parking areas including locking gates. Sets up barricades as needed. Maintains parking areas for public safety. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:Must be 16 years or older.


EQUESTRIAN OPERATIONS STAFF

Grounds Maintenance Assistant

Responsibilities: Cleans horse stalls and removes trash on grounds and parking lots. Assists with snow removal and general maintenance of buildings and grounds. Grounds maintenance includes mowing, weeding, trimming, etc. May be asked to assist with Arena event set up and tear down.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years or older. Have the ability to lift 25 lbs.


FOOD SERVICE

Grill Cook

Responsibilities: Maintain work area by cleaning and sanitizing; clean grilling equipment after daily use; ensure preventative and general maintenance of equipment. Assist with inventory management. Take orders and handle sales using Micros. Must be able to stand for long periods and remain focused in a busy and hectic environment.

Minimum Qualifications:Must be 16 years old or older. Prior experience and training in food preparation to include grilling and frying. Must be able to cook a variety of foods. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Should possess a Health Department License and have a valid ServSafe certificate.


GUEST RELATIONS/SERVICES

Guest Relations/Services – Safety & Security

Responsibilities: Responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for all guests and staff. Duties include guest security screening, monitoring venue areas (both front-of-house and back-of-house), and maintaining stage barricade safety. Acts as a visible presence throughout the venue to deter unsafe behavior and respond to incidents as needed. Serves as a primary point of contact for guests, providing courteous assistance and information.

Minimum Qualifications: have the ability to interact effectively with the public while enforcing safety procedures.

May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.

Work hours

  • Requires weekend and evening availability
  • Guest Relations/Services includes some daytime hours

Working Conditions/Environment

  • Indoor or outdoor work, depending on the requirements of the position.

  • Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check.
  • This position is part-time/seasonal and does not include a benefits package
