Job Description
Forklift Techs will perform maintenance on, as well as diagnose and repair a multitude of material handling and construction equipment. Equipment includes forklifts, telehandlers, MEWP’s (mobile elevating work platforms/aerial lifts) such as scissor and boom lifts, cranes, and other powered industrial equipment. Candidates will utilize their own tools, along with company owned specialty tools.
You must be confident in diagnosing complex issues, accurately quoting repairs, and delivering excellent service to customers. A strong familiarity with multiple equipment manufacturers is a must.
Responsibilities- Use knowledge and skills to perform both routine and unique equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Follow established procedures and protocol regarding filling out timecards, processing work orders, parts ordering, and updating repair notes electronically.
- Troubleshoot complex issues on a wide array of material handling equipment.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on material handling equipment to prolong their lifespan.
- Ensure proper documentation of service activities, including work orders and client communication.
- Keep shop admin informed of service status, repair estimates, and completion times.
- Stay updated on equipment models, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
- Manage parts and materials inventory for shop service.
- Any and all additional duties assigned.
- This is a union shop and joining the IUOE Local 150 and adhering to the terms of the negotiated contract and compensation package is mandatory.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years minimum experience repairing forklifts, aerial lifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Must supply your own tools. Some diagnostic equipment to be made available as needed.
- Technicians are required to adhere to the terms of the negotiated contract and compensation package.
- Will be required to pass a mechanical aptitude test.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent walking in shop.
- Ability to lift at least 50lbs.
- Flexibility to bend, stoop, and kneel.
- May be required to work in the elements – heat, cold, rain, snow.
