Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk supports day-to-day warehouse operations by handling domestic and international shipping, receiving incoming goods, and maintaining accurate inventory. This role works on second shift, ensures timely and accurate movement of materials, and collaborates closely with manufacturing, quality, management, and sales to keep products flowing efficiently through a lean production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute all shipping and receiving duties in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Perform picking, product verification, packaging, and shipping of domestic and international orders.
  • Follow established contracted shipping lanes for outbound shipments or request spot quotes when lanes do not exist.
  • Enter shipment tracking information into the system and trace shipments when required.
  • Call freight forwarders and common carriers to schedule pickups and follow up as necessary.
  • Receive incoming goods, verify quantities and documentation, and stock materials into the warehouse.
  • Replenish materials to the lean assembly line and carts to support continuous production.
  • Perform recycling activities for manufacturing, warehouse, and shipping/receiving areas.
  • Conduct cycle counts to help maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Scrap obsolete material according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate part, pallet, and beam labeling throughout the warehouse.
  • Keep all work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards.
  • Serve as a backup and assist in other shipping and receiving functions as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with the shipping team, manufacturing, quality, management, and sales to resolve issues and support production schedules.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and other departments to coordinate shipments and material flow.
  • Perform additional tasks within the shipping team as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in shipping and receiving operations.
  • Hands-on experience with international shipping processes and documentation.
  • Strong computer competency to enter data, track shipments, and use shipping software.
  • Ability to work effectively with shipping software and related systems.
  • Experience using UPS and FedEx systems for parcel shipments.
  • Familiarity with stockroom operations and material handling.
  • Knowledge of bills of lading (BOL) and basic shipping documentation.
  • Understanding of bills of materials (BOM) and how they relate to picking and shipping.
  • Ability to use RF (radio frequency) equipment for scanning and inventory control.
  • Experience operating pallet jacks for safe material movement.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain clean, organized work areas and follow 5S principles.
  • Willingness and ability to train initially on first shift before moving to second shift.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily on second shift from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with initial training on first shift. Work is performed in a lean manufacturing environment that uses kanban and production cell principles to drive efficiency. The warehouse and production areas follow 5S standards to maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces. ESD (electrostatic discharge) protocols apply in designated areas, requiring careful handling of sensitive components. Daily work involves regular use of shipping software, RF equipment, and pallet jacks, as well as interaction with freight forwarders and common carriers. The shipping team is a close-knit group that values flexibility, cooperation, and open communication, creating a supportive and collaborative atmosphere.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
