Sheriff's Social Worker II*

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is recruiting for Sheriff'sSocial Workers II*to deliver complex social work services for the adult incarcerated population by enhancing individuals’ social functioning and supporting the development of social service resources.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is establishing an internal Behavioral Health Services Program within its adult correctional facilities to maintain ongoing responsibility for mental health and healthcare services. This transition will support continuity of care for the incarcerated population through integrated services and early intervention, using an ongoing collaborative, multidisciplinary approach focused on improved health outcomes.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Availability:This is an AM shift scheduled Monday through Friday, with a duration of 8 or 10 hour shifts at the department’s discretion.
Background:Candidates must not have been convicted of a felony and must successfully pass an extensive background investigation which includes a fingerprint check and polygraph.

Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position (mileage reimbursement is available at current IRS rates).A clean driving record and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained. Incumbents may be required to travel betweenfacilities as necessary.Applicants must qualify under one of the following options:Option A: A Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW), which included a supervised social work internship, practicum, or field work experience.*Option B: A Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, psychology, sociology, social services, human services, behavioral anthropology, gerontology, cultural and gender studies, or human development* AND 480 hours of experience obtained in a supervised internship, practicum, or equivalent work or field work experience providing mental health, substance use disorder, or social work services such as interviewing and referring clients, non-clinical counseling, and social casework services in a human services agency. (Note: Candidates with degree titles not specified above (e.g. Criminal Justice, Political Science, etc.)may be considered under Option C belowand must provide coursework for review.)Option C: Thirty(30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed college coursework as described in Option B, half of which must be upper division AND one(1) year of experience equivalentto an entry-level social worker. Equivalent duties include primary responsibility for interviewing and referring clients, non-clinical counseling, and providing social caseworkservices as determined by Human Resources.

*Candidates in Final Year of Bachelor's Program: Applications will be accepted from individuals who are within 90 daysof completing a qualifying degree(Option A or B), provided they meet minimum requirements for experience at the time of application. Job offersmay be made contingent upon degree completion; verification of qualifications will be required prior to hire.Required Documentation:A list of completed coursework or copies of transcripts must be submitted with the application unless the applicant possesses a Bachelor's degree in one of the specified areas. Qualifying degrees or coursework must be completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education. BSW/MSW degrees or coursework must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education.Degrees or coursework completed outside of the U.S. must be accompanied by an evaluation report from a reputable credential evaluation service indicating equivalency to degrees or coursework completed at a college or university accredited by an accrediting association recognized by the United States Department of Education.
