EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 High School diploma or equivalent is required. Two years of commercial cleaning is preferred. Must be able to obtain a Level I and Dedicated Lookout Certification Wayside badge prior to completion of 60-day trial probation period.

 

 

INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants’ knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessment.

Summary

Performs the heavy cleaning of all MARTA rail stations.  Work involves complete wash-down of walls, floors, ceilings, steps, restrooms, elevators, escalators, granite strips, glass and stainless steel railing at rail stations.  Removes debris/litter and scrubs rail station track beds.  Spreads sand and removes ice and snow from rail stations, bus loops, platforms and entrances during inclement weather.  Pushes carts or heavy cleaning equipment.  Uses a variety of cleaning equipment, such as walk behind scrubbers and trailer mounted pressure washers.  Working in inclement weather is required.  Some of the work is performed in the vicinity of high voltage.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Provides light cleaning on a daily basis; performing such tasks as removal of debris and litter.

2.  Provides routine heavy cleaning.

3.  Completely restores areas damaged by vandalism and graffiti.

4.  Provides general cleaning of the shops, offices, restroom areas that include trashing, sweeping floors etc.

5.  Trimming trees and shrubbery obstructing patrons or bus operators view.

6.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.

1. Must pass physical examination and drug and alcohol screening.

2. Walks or stands up to 6 hours per shift.

3. Sits for up to an hour per shift (including breaks, lunch, etc.)

4. Must kneel, squat, stoop or bend to perform tasks.

5. Climbs stairs.

6. Pushes carts or heavy cleaning equipment.

7. Frequently reaches from floor to overhead level.

8. Frequently bends forward at the lower back to perform tasks.

9. Frequently lifts items which weigh up to 50 pounds.

10. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
