UPMC Western Maryland is looking for a full-time Service Tech Foreman to support our Maintenance Department!

The final candidate will need to be available to work dayshift, Monday - Friday. Other shifts, including weekends & holidays, may be required depending on department need. Candidates with HVAC training/experience highly encouraged to apply!

As the Service Tech Foreman, you will provide front line supervision, scheduling, day to day operations management and work assignments to the appropriate craftsmen. Ensure that the operational needs of the hospital are met and sustained within the specific guidelines of governing authorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Address and provide guidance to craftsmen through technical issues that provide for safety and without compromise for facilities operations and patient care.
  • Maintain a parts inventory for shops and areas of responsibility using efficient materials management processes.
  • Conduct periodic filed inspection of appropriate building systems to assure that the specific needs of the hospital are met.
  • Ensure that work standards of subordinates are maintained at or above department standards.
  • Participate in the overall management function of the department, composing and administer job evaluations and recommending merit wage increases.
  • Provide direction to craftsmen in the routine and non-routine execution of their duties.
  • Maintain complete schedule for all manpower in craft areas in area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all subordinates are properly trained in job skills and safety procedures.
  • Maintain scheduling needs for appropriate crafts to accommodate the needs and operations of the hospital.
  • Work in close communication with Construction Management to assure that the facility needs are net and efficient operation of the facility is not compromised.
  • Exhibit, both verbally and behaviorally, a commitment to the values of service excellence in carrying out on-going duties.
  • Timely completion of reports and documentation of incidents and regulatory records.
  • Adhere to the Basics of Service Excellence in all interactions with clients and the public.
  • Maintain a positive outlook and interactions with co-workers, which contribute to the team effort of the department.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of appropriate codes and regulations.
  • Compile job and projects cost estimates and contribute to budget processes.
  • Monitor operations and ensure that quantifies operational costs.
  • Recommend and conduct discipline when appropriate using UPMC and department procedures and practices.
  • Analyze available data and adjust actions and systems to gain maximum efficiency without compromise to hospital operations.
  • Plan and schedule specific training as necessary to provide for the needs and abilities of the department.
  • Order materials and equipment using proper procedures and processes that provide for the efficient and effective operation of the department.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized technical training course that reflects the function and skill of the appropriate crafts or team function being supervised. For this position, HVAC training is highly preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience working at a journeyman level or higher in an appropriate trade, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Ability and knowledge in specific operational systems and functions.
  • Possession of appropriate license or registration to meet code requirements.
  • Ability to analyze conflicting data assesses information in context and makes decisions that are appropriate and effective.
