Service Director North America

Location: Houston, TX

Travel: 20-25% (International induction period required)

We have exclusively partnered with a global leader in high-efficiency energy and sustainability solutions to appoint a Service Director for North America. Our client is a global leader in decentralised power generation, renowned for engineering advanced systems that turn complex gases into reliable energy.

MISSION

The role of this strategic Service Director for North America is to build and scale. Our client is currently transitioning from a foundational strategy phase into a massive operational expansion across the US.

As the Service Director, you will hold full P&L responsibility for the North American Service Business Line (USA, Canada, and Puerto Rico). You are not solely managing a department; you are architecting a service organisation designed to support critical, 24/7 power infrastructure where machine uptime is the ultimate measure of success.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and structure the Service North America organisation, ensuring clear roles and interfaces across Operations, Sales, Control Room, and Maintenance Engineering.
  • Transition the organisation from building strategy to managing large-scale operations.
  • Full responsibility for the Service Business Line's P&L, including budget definition, margin monitoring, and achieving revenue targets.
  • Lead and motivate a management team with a vision to grow the workforce.
  • Govern critical technical escalations and ensure 24/7 operational reliability where machine uptime is the primary objective.
  • Personally manage strategic accounts and lead negotiations for complex full-service contracts.
  • Ensure alignment with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, and HSE, while coordinating with Corporate Service on global standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in Service, Operations, or After Sales within a structured industrial environment.
  • Background in Power Generation or similar (e.g., gas turbines, gas compressors, or stationary power units).
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, or Business is required; an MBA or Master’s degree is considered a plus.
  • Strong feeling of the numbers with proven ability to manage P&L and create business plans for service divisions.
  • Managerial mindset prioritised over purely technical skills; must be able to define organisational structures, KPIs, and manage managers.
  • Assertive, empathetic, and able to perform under high pressure in a 24/7 business environment.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20–25%, including an initial 2–3 month induction period in Europe.
