Definition
All LVMPD part time positions are limited to 19 work hours per week and 988 hours per year. Service Aide is paid at $17.41 an hour.

Position Description
Incumbents perform moderately demanding manual tasks to receive, move, shelve, store, issue, and/or deliver the following: stock materials, supplies, tools, equipment, furniture, and miscellaneous materials; clean motor vehicles; change vehicle tires; andperform minor facility and office support functions.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This position serves at the pleasure of the Sheriff and is not subject to the competitive requirements of the Civil Service Rules of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age at time of application.
  • Mustpossess a high school diploma,GED Certificate, or equivalent.
  • Be a citizen/naturalized citizen or permanent resident alien without conditions on status of the United States of America by the closing date of the job announcement.

License or Certificate:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Nevada driver license.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Personal Appearance:While on duty, and/or representing the Department, uniformed or otherwise, all Department employees will be neat and clean in their appearance in public. Employees are prohibited from attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles or jewelry on or through the nose, tongue, eyebrow or other exposed body part, except the ears for females, while on duty. Employees are prohibited from stretching or "gauging" their earlobes. All jewelry implants will not be exposed or visible while on duty. Tattoos or branding will not be exposed or visible while on duty and/or representing the Department. Such markings must be covered by clothing will be covered using neutral-toned badges or patches except for hands, neck, head, or face tattoos. Makeup is not permissible to cover a tattoo. Tattoos or branding anywhere on the body that promote racism/discrimination, indecency, extremist or supremacist philosophies, lawlessness, violence, or contain sexually explicit material are prohibited.
  2. Vision sufficient to read labels and signs and distinguish colors and contrast.
  3. Dexterity sufficient to operate small tools and equipment.
  4. Mobility sufficient to climb ladders and stairs; work indoor and outdoor, including the office, storage areas, and parking lots.
  5. Agility sufficient to bend, twist, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach forward, reach overhead, and rotate neck and trunk.
  6. Endurance sufficient to stand and move around for long periods of time to work in the storage areas, parking lot, and/or office.
  7. Strength sufficient to lift, carry, move, shelve, and/or deliver moderately heavy items.
