Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) has an opportunity for aSenior Warehouserwithin the Warehouse Unit of the Logistics Division in the Drainage and Wastewater Line of Business. The Warehouse group manages SPU’s four main warehouse locations and other remote satellite locations. The work includes procuring, receiving, storing, issuing, transferring, surplus, and counting all inventory materials. Storing and managing emergency provisions such as related personal protection equipment (PPE) is the responsibility of the Warehouse Unit.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced and safe warehouse environment supporting a diverse team and customer base. They will be self-motivated, customer service focused and be able to work independently as well as work as part of a larger team.

• Provide customer service in a professional and efficient manner in a warehouse setting, via telephone, and email.

• Respond to information requests and communicate with customers and vendors in person, by phone, and through email.

• Contact vendors as needed to resolve issues, correct discrepancies, and fulfill orders.

• Order, receive, inspect, and distribute a variety of equipment, materials, and supplies; Assist field crews with requisitions for materials; Complete daily order fulfillment; Accurately record quantities while performing data entry.

• Use an inventory management system to research, enter, and manage data; Maintain files and logbooks of materials; Record receipt of materials in multiple technology systems.

• Receive and process incoming materials, perform quality checks on materials and paperwork.

• Conduct safety inspections on forklifts, operate forklifts safely, and provide safety guidance to forklift operators.

• Deliver materials to worksites or satellite warehouse locations.

• Load and unload materials from carts, shelves, and pallets.

  • Requires one (1) year of warehousing experience

Working Conditions:

  • Must safely lift 50 lbs. repetitively.
  • Must wear PPE while on duty.

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended period, climb stairs repeatedly.

  • Must be willing to work with materials containing toxic or hazardous substances.

License, Certification and Other Requirements:

The Ideal Successful Candidate:

  • Experience working with materials associated with water, wastewater & drainage utilities
  • Forklift operation experience
  • Proactive approach to safety protocols in material handling
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication and attention to detail
  • Teamwork, organizational, and time management skills
  • Comfortable using warehouse management systems, barcode systems, and scanners.
The full salary range for this position is $41.32 – $44.52 per hour.

This position is not eligible for a hybrid schedule, and work is required in the Warehouse Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.
