We are looking for a Senior Vice President, Political Communications, to join our growing team. This is a senior role for a seasoned political communicator who has operated at the highest levels: on campaigns, in government, or in the rooms where consequential decisions are made. You'll develop and lead political communications strategies across a portfolio of clients, and report to a TMG Partner.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Client Strategy & Advisory

  • Work closely with TMG's senior team to lead political communications strategy and manage relationships with a select portfolio of clients, including advocacy organizations, nonprofits, and Fortune 500 companies;
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and thought leader, helping clients define and achieve political and policy goals;
  • Evaluate client communications programs regularly to ensure mandates are fulfilled and identify opportunities to deepen engagement and expand scopes of work; and
  • Act as a primary drafter and manager of client materials, including memos, op-eds, statements, deck presentations, messaging documents, and strategic communications plans, and support writing and narrative development across a range of clients and projects.

Media Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute political messaging, earned media strategies, press outreach, and digital communications plans across a portfolio of clients;
  • Maintain relationships with producers, bookers, and reporters;
  • Support communications strategy related to oversight proceedings, congressional investigations, and high-stakes regulatory or legal inquiries, including rapid response, message discipline, and stakeholder communication;
  • Secure and oversee coverage in national and local media outlets; and
  • Manage processes related to principal media and public appearances.

Required skills and experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in political communications, especially on federal or state campaigns or government communications/press secretary roles;
  • A strong understanding of political communications strategy, earned media, message development, and digital/social media landscape;
  • Experience serving as a senior advisor to principals or executives on high-stakes communications strategy;
  • Proven ability to lead communications strategy during crisis or rapid-response situations with significant reputational or political risk
  • Exceptional political writing and messaging skills, with demonstrated experience producing communications materials, including press releases, op-eds, talking points, and speeches;
  • Proven experience managing and leading high-performing projects, building consensus across teams, mentoring and managing junior staff;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and produce high-quality, executive-ready deliverables in a fast-paced environment, managing dynamic client situations and meeting tight deadlines with limited supervision.
  • Established, senior-level relationships with political reporters, editors, producers, and influential voices across traditional and digital media; and
  • Verbal on-the-record or on-camera experience.

Work Environment

This Senior Vice President, Political Communications, position is based in our Washington, DC office with a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote). Occasional travel may be required. Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $230,000 - $250,000 USD commensurate with experience, plus a discretionary, performance-based bonus.
