Job Title: Senior Tax Manager
Location: Aventura, Florida (Onsite only)
Company: Cardone Capital
About Us:
Cardone Capital is a dynamic real estate investment firm managing over 15,000 multifamily units across the Sunbelt, with a heavy concentration in Florida. Our mission is to deliver consistent returns to our retail investors through disciplined acquisitions, operational excellence, and streamlined financial oversight. We are focused on delivering reliable investor distributions, maintaining detailed property financial oversight, and ensuring strong corporate budgeting and tax compliance.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Tax Manager to take a lead role in the audit and tax processes for our private equity real estate fund partnerships. This position is responsible for managing the year-end tax cycle with external auditors, coordinating partnership tax return preparation and K-1 delivery with outside tax advisors, and ensuring accurate fund and property-level financial reporting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with PE fund structures, partnership accounting, and the tax workflows that support investor reporting in a real estate environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the partnership tax process end-to-end in coordination with outside tax advisors: manage the tax workpaper package, gather and review adjusted trial balances and book-to-tax differences, and drive federal and state Form 1065 preparation, including special allocations and Section 704(b)/704(c) items.
- Review K-1s for accuracy across all investors, including capital account roll-forwards on GAAP and tax basis; manage investor K-1 delivery timelines and respond to investor tax inquiries.
- Coordinate multi-state tax compliance across the fund's property footprint — state composite and withholding filings, nonresident investor withholding, and 1099 reporting.
- Maintain and review fixed asset schedules.
- Assist in the annual financial statement audits of fund partnerships and their property-level subsidiaries. Manage the PBC list, prepare workpapers, draft GAAP financial statements and footnotes, and serve as the primary day-to-day contact for external auditors.
- Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements for fund and property-level entities, including consolidations and intercompany eliminations.
- Support investor distribution calculations, including waterfall and preferred return computations, and ensure timely execution and reporting.
- Reconcile bank accounts, loan balances, intercompany accounts, and capital accounts; review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for accuracy.
- Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and system processes as the firm scales.
- Partner with asset management, acquisitions, and investor relations to deliver financial insights that support fund and property decisions.
Qualifications:
- 3–6 years of progressive tax experience, with meaningful exposure to private equity real estate funds, partnership tax reporting, or Big 4 / regional public accounting serving real estate or fund clients.
- Strong knowledge of partnership taxation: Form 1065, K-1 review, capital account maintenance (GAAP and U.S. tax basis).
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP as applied to real estate, including consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and investor distribution waterfalls.
- Proficiency in Yardi (strongly preferred); experience with AppFolio, QuickBooks, or comparable platforms.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and modeling against large datasets.
- CPA or active CPA candidate strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
- 401(k) plan, health, dental, and vision insurance.
- Paid time off and company holidays.
- Opportunity to work with a fast-paced, high-growth real estate investment firm.
- Collaborative team culture with direct exposure to executive leadership and strategic initiatives.
