Senior Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Architect
Location: Newark, DE (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite per week)
Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000 + full benefits
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer / Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, optimization, and long-term strategy of enterprise infrastructure across a complex, hybrid environment.
This is a hands-on senior role where you’ll operate across on-prem and cloud ecosystems, driving performance, scalability, and resilience for critical systems. You’ll play a key role in both day-to-day engineering and long-term infrastructure planning, with ownership over major initiatives and technical direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise infrastructure solutions across hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)
- Own the full lifecycle of infrastructure systems, from planning and deployment through optimization and decommissioning
- Architect and manage Active Directory environments, including domain strategy, trusts, and Group Policy
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to replication, authentication, and network performance
- Design and maintain virtualized environments (VMware and/or Hyper-V)
- Implement high-availability solutions for mission-critical systems, including clustering and failover strategies
- Support and optimize Linux-based systems in uptime-sensitive environments
- Design and manage cloud infrastructure in Azure and/or AWS, including networking and secure connectivity
- Support endpoint lifecycle and deployment through Microsoft Intune / Autopilot
- Participate in incident response and disaster recovery planning, ensuring business continuity
- Collaborate across infrastructure, security, and application teams to align with enterprise standards
- Contribute to capacity planning, budgeting, and infrastructure roadmap development
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or architecture roles
- Strong expertise across Microsoft, virtualization, and Linux environments
- Deep experience with Active Directory architecture and identity management
- Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
- Experience designing high-availability, high-performance systems
- Strong knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms
- Experience with endpoint management tools (Intune, Autopilot, etc.)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex enterprise infrastructure issues
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Experience
- Experience in large, multi-site enterprise environments
- Familiarity with ITIL or structured infrastructure lifecycle practices
- Exposure to Oracle Linux or enterprise Linux distributions
- Experience supporting infrastructure transformations, migrations, or acquisitions
- Understanding of security frameworks or Zero Trust environments
