Job Title: Systems Engineer 4 – Functional Safety Engineer
Location: Southfield, MI (100% Onsite)
Duration: 12-Month Contract
We are seeking an experienced Technical Specialist – Functional Safety Engineer with deep expertise in ISO 26262 within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment. This role requires a highly motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is committed to delivering high-quality, safety-critical systems.
Here are the mandatory skills exactly based on the client requirement:
- Extensive hands-on experience with ISO 26262 (functional safety lifecycle and work products)
- Minimum 8+ years of experience as a Functional Safety Engineer or related role
- Experience performing SOTIF analysis and developing associated work products (at least 1 year)
- Strong experience in functional safety engineering within an automotive OEM or Tier 1 environment
- Proven experience in HARA, Functional Safety Requirements (FSR), and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR)
- Experience supporting external/third-party functional safety reviews and audits
- Strong understanding of OEM and supplier safety responsibility split
- Hands-on experience with functional safety tools (e.g., Medini, APIS IQ)
- Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., Jama)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering field
